"Are we all ready? We need to get the boys and get going if we want to catch this flight on time" Jamie says walking into the kitchen. This morning we're flying to Miami for the rest of the Christmas break. I spent Christmas Day with my own family then I spent Boxing Day with Jamie and his family at the football. It wasn't how I'd usually spend my Christmas but I enjoyed every minute of it. It felt like what I'd say is a proper family Christmas.

"J you need to calm down. We have more than enough time to get to the airport and get checked in" maybe it's because I do it every few days but I'm way more relaxed than the average person when it comes to traveling.

"Ellie we still need to get to Heathrow, you know yourself what traffic can be like at this time of the morning"

"Babe calm down, its only just gone six. We can leave it another half an hour before we leave, I'll even drive" I say getting myself a coffee "we're flying upperclass it's not like we need to fight with an airport full of people"

"But Ellie what if the flight leaves early"

"Jamie the flight isn't going to leave early"

"But what if it does?""

"Jamie the flight won't leave early and it won't leave without you"

"You two are hilarious" Charley says laughing as he walks into the kitchen "you sound like kids arguing"

"Because your dad just needs to relax. We're going to Miami and we're spending New Year there, that's all any of us need to think about right now"

"That's if we get there"

"Jamie! No wonder you need so many facials the amount of stressing you do" I say with a laugh kissing Jamie lightly "I'm just messing but chill. We'll leave as soon as I drink my coffee and I just need to make sure Beau has everything he needs for the flight"

"Leave Beau to me El" Jamie says handing me three passports as he leaves the kitchen.

After a stress free morning in the airport and a faultless flight we're finally in Miami. Our hotel has the most amazing views of the ocean and it's right on the beach. I've been to Miami quite a few times but I've never experienced this level of luxury in one hotel. We have a bungalow suite with our own private pool and I can't wait to make the most of our time here.

"You've outdone yourself with this hotel, Jamie" I say walking around the suite looking at the bedrooms "it's amazing"

"I wanted to treat you. You work hard so you deserve it" Jamie says wrapping his arms around me from behind "what should we do tonight?"

"We could see what the boys want to do but maybe just dinner and a walk around to see what's close by?" although this is my first holiday with Jamie I have to remember it's a family holiday, whatever plans we make I want to make a conscious effort to include the boys in our plans. This is their holiday as much as it is ours.

"We could ask them but if there's something you want to do just say and we'll do it Ellie. I know the boys are here but you need to enjoy it as well"

"I'll be happy with a few pool and beach days maybe a day of shopping if I feel like it. I want to make the most of us being here with the boys and I want to bond with them more" I say looking out onto the garden where the boys are sat next to the pool "I had a look into things we can do and there's a few things I think they'd like. I've booked us tickets for the basketball but I thought we could maybe try go karting one day or go to one of the arcades then there's golf courses which is probably more for you but I'm sure Charley and Beau would like it"

"Ellie you don't have to do any of that but I appreciate you getting us tickets for the basketball. It'll be a good night but don't think you have to find something to do all of the time, the boys would be just as happy on the beach with us and a football"
