"J how do we tell your mum and dad about the baby? I think I'm more nervous than when we told Charley and Beau" I ask as I pack my holiday clothes. Restrictions have eased slightly and we've jumped at the chance of a holiday. We leave for Barbados tomorrow and as always I'm last minute, the only thing I've prepared for this trip is a Covid test. When I say we, I mean all of Jamie's family; the kids, his parents and his brothers family.
"We don't have to tell them yet if you're not ready" Jamie says as he stops what he's doing to look at me.
"Jamie we're going to Barbados for two weeks with them and your brothers family, I'm going to be in a bikini the majority of the time if we don't tell them I'm sure they'll guess" I'd love to keep this between the four of us for as long as possible but with a Caribbean holiday on the cards it isn't going to happen.
"Why don't you just get changed into a bikini when we get there and just show off your bump and wait for someone to point it out if no one said anything I can shout surprise" Beau says looking up from his iPad as he sits on the bed. I know he's joking but the more I'm thinking about it the more I think about going along with it.
"Would everyone not be annoyed? I can't have a family of Redknapp's pissed off with me when we're going to be on a yacht"
"Have you ever known mum be pissed off? Personally I think it's a good idea, we'll see what Charley thinks" Jamie says shouting of Charley and pitching Beau's idea. He also thinks it's a brilliant idea so that's what we're going with. Pray for Ellie!
"Have you told work about the baby yet?" Jamie asks as we make our way to the airport the next morning.
"Yeah I just thought it was safer. I didn't really have to tell them until 25 weeks or so but I'm assuming it'll be obvious long before then especially in my uniform. I'm only just 13 weeks now and I think I'm already quite big. Well I'm bigger than I thought I'd be" I say looking at my stomach. I have a feeling I'm going to end up huge by the time my due date comes around.
"How did work take it? What did they say about flying?" I know Jamie's worried and he has every right to be but I'm not the first flight attendant to end up pregnant.
"Once borders open fully and we get back to flying regularly they've said I can fly as long as I want until I'm 28 weeks but I think I'll probably stop around 25 weeks as long as I can manage and then I'll be grounded and be transferred to the office or airport until I start my maternity leave" I'm so happy I'll be one of the first to be brought back to work after being off for so long but being a first time mum I want to make sure I do everything properly and I want to make sure I have a job to go back to.
Arriving at the upper class wing I'm nervous. Although I've told who needs to know at work I'm pregnant I haven't told anyone else yet, I'm not ready for everyone to know. I've only just passed the 12 weeks mark and I don't want to jinx anything. I'm wearing loose fitting clothes but I'm still worried I'll give something away before I'm ready to.
"Alright mum" Jamie says hugging Sandra as we walk over to them ready to get our boarding passes "where's Mark and Lucy?"
"They've already checked in the kids couldn't wait to get into the lounge but we decided to wait for you" making our way to the private security area I recognise some of the ground crew however I don't really know any of them very well.
Once we get into the upper class lounge I relax slightly. Now we've got three hours to kill I decide to book a few spa treatments while I wait. Usually I'd be found at the bar but when I'm drinking mocktails I don't see the point.
"Babe you need to relax. No one suspects anything" Jamie says sitting next to me "mum said you're going to the spa so just enjoy it and remember later today they'll all be just as happy as we are"
