"Anivia? What are you doing here?" Katarina questioned. The large Cryophoenix landed with a swoop of her wings and tucked them into her before giving an answer.

"You and I aren't that different. I too worry about Ashe and as a longtime friend I cannot bear to see her in such a state as she is in now."

Katarina tensed. What state is she in? Dread filled the Noxian's voice to a point where she almost choked on her own words. "What do you mean? Where is she??"

Anivia's eyes narrowed slightly. "Ashe is being held within the dungeons of her castle and is awaiting for the jury to take place. She will be sentenced soon and Lord Tryndamere will bring this upon her."

Sarah and Katarina looked at each other as the information synced in. Katarina's heart was in pain and her friend saw the agony in her tearing green eyes. Sarah reached and touched the Noxian's arm, something that no one else except Ashe had the ability to do. Katarina needed something comforting even the slightest touch to assure her to not succumb to her grief.

"How would you know of this? Were you spying on them?" pressed Sarah for Katarina's sake. The Cryophoenix simply bowed her ice crowned head and replied, "I see all things for I am the Freljord.  I had sensed darkness loom within the castle gates and upon seeing your arrival I knew you were here for her."

The Noxian withdrew herself into a half smile. It was very good that someone knew why without her to explain what she was doing. Katarina knew she was different from the rest, the Cryophoenix’s eyes were gentle and her features displayed her knowledge throughout the thousands of years she’s been reborn. She glanced thoroughly at each of them but rested her eyes upon the Noxian’s shoulders specifically. She must have known what dwelled within her heart and by the heat returning to the assassin’s chilled cheeks, it was clear that she loved her.

But at the same time as this warmth lingered, a subtle dread lie subdued in the pit of her stomach. Katarina did her best to keep herself calm but with every second it was proving more difficult. ‘Why were things this way’, she constantly said in her mind. Couldn’t they just all live in peace without having to erupt war and chaos over things that happened in the past?

It would make sense that Tryndamere was angry about it, but did he really need to suppress Ashe because of his rage? She herself had been through pain by losing her home, her once proud position in Noxus, her father. Katarina would have been so angry and even would have tried to kill Swain, LeBlanc and everyone else she thought had destroyed her. As much as the assassin wanted bloodshed and revenge…she decided not to. It wasn’t worth more pain. What was in the past was in the past and she moved on from it and found better as time went on. She had found Sarah, who had helped her establish new beginnings within the Institute of War, she had reunited (not entirely) with her sister and adoptive brother and ultimately had found love with the Frost Archer.

Now Katarina strived for the future. She wanted to make it better. She wanted Ashe to be in it too and she was willing to go far to get to her.

“You’re right.” she stated nodding. It felt very good to say it proudly. “We had a plan to sneak in through the air and take Ashe from there. We would have to dispatch a few guards undetected from the tower and make sure a section of the wall is cleared before we can escape.”
