Sero pushed his battered body to the brink, forcing it to get off the ground and sprinted to Izuku. The branches of the fallen tree tripped him up and he almost wasn't able to get to him, but he pushed through.
"Hey, hey, hey, lightning bug," Sero said, his voice thick with emotion as he sank to the ground and cradled Izuku's head gently in his lap. "Don't move, don't move. You're gonna be okay, just- don't move."
Izuku lifted one arm up, weakly gripping onto Sero's wrist. He coughed and Sero watched as blood pooled from his lips. "Han- Hanta-"
"Sh, don't. It's gonna be okay. We're gonna get you help, okay? Just- just don't move," Sero's voice was cracking and tears were slipping down his cheeks.
Izuku looked up at him, his eyes glazed over. He shook his head, trying to reach a hand up to him, but he couldn't quite manage it. Sero brought his hand up for him. "I'm- I'm sorry-"
A sob escaped Sero before he could remember to keep it in check. "Stop talking, you idiot! We're gonna get you help, you can tell me then, but you gotta save your energy."
Izuku shook his head again. "No, Hanta, you need- you need to know-"
"I know," Sero snapped, tightening his grip on Izuku's hand, turning his face into it. "I know, okay? Of course I knew. You're a shit actor, lightning bug," a watery chuckle as he tried to pretend his world wasn't crashing down before his eyes.
The bleeding villain tried to flash him a smile, but it ended up being more of a wince. "I'm sorry-"
"Stop talking," Sero pleaded once again. Izuku was saying goodbye, anyone could see that. Sero wanted to believe that it wasn't necessary.
"I love you, tape boy."
Sero's breath hitched. "I- I love you too."
The sound of someone running towards them caused Sero's gaze to finally leave the dying villain in his arms. A quick glance over his shoulder alerted him to the fact it was Toga who was sprinting towards them.
"Sero! Sero, you have to help him. Please, you have to save him!" she cried when she reached them, hitting the ground hard, so she could squeeze Izuku's arm.
"I'm going to, don't worry. We just have to wait for the fighting to die down, okay? Ambulances need to get here," Sero explained in a rush.
"They left," Toga said in a small voice.
His eyes widened. "Who?"
"The league, they left him."
Izuku closed his eyes tightly, like it was a physical blow. "H-Himi, you should have gone."
She frantically shook her head. "What kind of poodle would I be if I abandoned you here?" Her voice was tight, but she was trying to lighten the mood. It was a little hard when Izuku was bleeding out in front of her.
The next person that rushed to them was a little bit of a surprise, seeing as it was Katsuki Bakugou. "Deku, what the fuck did you get yourself into?" he asked in disbelief, dropping to his knees on the opposite side of Toga.
"Family business," Izuku replied weakly.
Bakugou scowled at him and then at the branch stuck in his torso. "What're you idiots doing? We have to get this out of him and get him back to camp." He made a move to pull at the branch, but Sero stopped him.
"It's the only thing keeping him alive right now!" he snapped. "If you remove it, he's going to bleed out."
Bakugou lifted his hand without a second thought. "I'll cauterize it."
"You'll blow a hole in his stomach!" Sero shouted.
"I can."
All three of the teens whipped their heads in the direction of camp. Todoroki was standing there, with a few other classmates beside him. Aizawa was in the front of the group, his arms crossed and a disapproving frown on his face.
"Todoroki!" Sero exclaimed. "Please, you gotta help us."
The boy nodded once and started to walk towards them. A few of their classmates shifted from discomfort.
"Sero, didn't he try to kill you a few minutes ago?" someone asked, but he wasn't paying enough attention to know who.
"He wasn't going to kill me," Sero hissed, running a hand through Izuku's hair. The villain winced while Todoroki and Bakugou tried to figure out the best way to remove the branch.
"They thought I was a good actor, Hana." Izuku said with a smug smile that lasted all of two seconds, before he yelped in pain. "Gentle, Kacchan! Do you know the meaning of the word?"
"I'm trying to save your life, Deku, shut it."
"You're just doing it so you can tattle to my mom," Izuku huffed, his grip on Sero's hand tightening.
Bakugou flashed him a smirk, little to no actual heat to it. "Well duh."
"On three," Todoroki said, looking between the blond and the villain. They both nodded.
"One."
"Two."
"Three!"
Izuku's scream sounded through the entire camp. Everyone flinched back from it. They couldn't even imagine being in that much pain. It quieted down after Todoroki was done cauterizing it.
"We have to flip him and make sure it didn't go all the way through," Todoroki said, talking to Bakugou.
Izuku shook his head. "It didn't."
The two boys looked down at him skeptically. They clearly thought he was just saying it to avoid further pain.
"I know what it feels like to be impaled all the way through," he hissed at them. "It didn't go all the way."
Something hit the ground near Izuku's feet, drawing their attention. It looked like thick handcuffs. They all knew they were quirk suppressant.
Aizawa stood above them, his arms still crossed. "Put them on him," he ordered.
Todoroki was the one to do so. Sero wasn't going to move any time soon and Bakugou seemed more annoyed than anything. At least the half and half teen was gentle when he cuffed Izuku's hands together in front of him.
"Can you guys manage to get him to an ambulance?" Aizawa asked his three students. They nodded, so he turned to the blonde girl.
"I know you have to arrest me, and I promise I'll let you, but you have to let me go with him. Please, Mr. Pro Hero, sir. You can cuff me to a chair, I don't care. I just need to make sure he's going to be okay," Toga was a rambling mess (clearly she had been spending too much time with Izuku).
Aizawa rolled his eyes in annoyance. "I'll let you if you just shut up."
Toga fell silent, holding her hands out to him to get cuffed.
The man cuffed her and motioned for his students and the villain to get back to the main camp area. They could already see the flashing lights.
Yeah, this book is almost over. Maybe two or three more chapters? Something like that idk yet.
