Part 17

The trio arrives at the practice and Lizzie quickly calls the Doctor to unlock the door for them.

Scarlett goes to grab the backpack and tucks a stuffed animal under her arm as Lizzie works on getting Y/n out of the car.

Y/n wakes up a bit as Lizzie lifts her up but y/n tucks her head into her Mommy's neck closing her eyes.

They quickly head inside as Scarlett gets the doors for Lizzie. Once inside they are greeted by the doctor waiting for them.

"Dr. Palmer, thank you so much for doing this." Lizzie starts but gets waved off by the doctor.

"How many times do I have to tell you to please call me Christine." She says smiling at them.

"Well Christine, this is Scarlett." Lizzie quickly introduces motioning to Scarlett who is next to her. As the two nod at each other before Lizzie continues.

"And this is Y/n." Lizzie says lifting y/n a bit in her arms. "She is little right now, I hope that is okay." Lizzie gets out quickly.

"Completely. Let's get you guys back into a room." Christine says leading the trio into one of the examination rooms.

"Lizzie you and y/n can hop up here on the bed. Scarlett, you can sit in the chair next to them." Christine says pulling out a tablet.

Lizzie sits down on the end of the bed before trying to adjust Y/n out of her neck so Chirstine can get a better look at her. However, y/n just holds on tighter to Lizzie and whines a bit at the movement.

"Lizzie it's fine you don't need to move her yet." Christine says smiling.

Lizzie just nods and holds y/n closer to her.

"So can one of you talk me through what has been going on? I know she tested positive but I need some more information." Christine explains.

"Yeah, Scar, do you want to take this one?" Lizzie says looking at Scarlett who looks surprised at the request but nods quickly jumping in.

"Yeah, so umm, Y/n tested positive 5 days ago. First started with a fever that took a few days to break. Now, well I guess the last couple days, Y/n has been waking up gasping for air and Liz noticed her lungs crackle when she takes in deeper breaths." Scarlett explains.

"Sounds like we are getting some fluid build up in the lungs. Would it be okay if I took a listen?" Christine says holding up a stethoscope.

"Go ahead, do you need me to move her?" Lizzie asks.

"No need, I can hear it from her back as well." Christine says before blowing some warm air on the end of the stethoscope not wanting the cold metal to bother the sleeping little.

"Can one of you lift her shirt, she knows your touch. I don't want to startle her." Christine explains.

"Oh yeah of course." Lizzie says lifting Y/n's shirt while continuing to rub Y/n's back.

Christine listens for a few moments before putting the stethoscope back around her neck. "I can hear some of the fluid build up. If it is alright with everyone, I want to get an x-ray of y/n's lungs so we can get a better picture of how much is built up." Christine explains.

"Yes." Lizzie says looking at Scarlett.

"Sounds good to me." Scarlett nodded.

"Okay, I am going to go get everything ready. When you guys are ready just come down the hall and it's the last door on the left. Just so you know, Y/n will need to stand or sit up for the x-ray." She explains before walking out of the room.
