Jude POV:
I fell down the hole. The hole went down quite deep. I decided to use wind magic to make me float and increase my speed as I went down. Sending out short, soft bursts of wind, equidistant, around me, I figure out that this ditch, for a lack of better words, had a diameter of about 10 meters. I was able to get a hold of Arthur's mana signature as well, so I decided to fly down to the ground.
I finally reached the ground, and I saw a horrible sight in front of me. Arthur was there, holding Lance Alea who lost all her limbs. She was crying about not wanting to die. My mind seemed t have gone blank. I looked around to see all the elite Elven mages dead.
A Lance was a white core mage, who was powerful even for me. For someone like that to be brutally murdered like that, even with so many elite mages at her side, what kind of monster did she face?
I was able to keep a stoic face when Arthur turned to face, with tears in his eyes. I asked him, "What... happened here?" Arthur decided to share his memories of what happened instead of talking. And then I saw.
Lance Alea and her mages were here to investigate an A-rank dungeon. It was going smoothly until they met the boss. The boss was an AA-rank mana beast. It would be easy enough for Lance Alea to solo the boss, however, he had some weird energy coming off him which made him much stronger. After several hours of fighting, Alea was able to win. Then they decided to investigate for any clues.
One of the mages found a secret room. The secret room was huge and had a man? The man was pure black and had two matte grey horns protruding out of his head. He spoke, "You have an option, you can kill all of your teammates here," while pointing to Alea. Alea shook her head. He then laughed, "Then you can die fighting." All the mages charged at him. However, he simply raised his hand and created black spikes out of the ground. The black spikes instantly killed half of the mages.
The fight continued, with the man creating black spikes to easily kill the elite mages. The black spikes were different from metal magic, they were being created out of nowhere. Alea was able to chip his horn, but, she got severely injured. The man decided to torture her for chipping his horn as he cut her limbs and blinded her. He then tortured the elite mages while she heard their screams, unable to do anything with a broken core.
The horrific flashback ended. I closed my eyes as I coldly digested the scene. After a bit, I spoke out, "It seems like an invader from another continent has come." Arthur nodded his head. After I encased Alea in ice, we went back to the surface with her adamantium tag. Suddenly, I turned back to see Sylvie was here as well.
It seems like Arthur called her or she came to find him after she couldn't talk to him. We both were planning on riding her, however, she was still afraid of me as she retreated. I sighed and said, "I'll fly behind you." He nodded and we went back.
He decided to walk to not shock the guard. The guards deeply bowed their heads to me and let us through. They decided to contact the Xyrus Academy about both of us. It turns out that they were making a search party for both of us after we didn't come back fast.
I told the guards, "We would like to go home." The guards stiffly nodded their heads and decided to let us go home.
I was about to knock on our home, however, Arthur touched my hand. It seemed like he was not ready yet. Arthur said, "It may be selfish of me, but, they will just ask us questions. I don't think I am ready yet."
I nodded and sat down with him, looking at the night sky. I then said, "You know, Arthur," he turned his head towards me, "life can be thought of as being a war. There are many battles that you must go through in life. A single battle doesn't define your life. So, get up. Don't give up yet."
