Thalia and I walk to the lunch table together. We take a seat at the back of the cafeteria, where we usually sat. We are the only two people who sit there, because we weren't considered "popular".
Thalia starts talking about what happened at the party after I left with Hunter, and Eventually I zone out and started thinking about other things.
Would I really be able to stay away from Hunter?
It couldn't be a question, I had to. Being the new girl is hard, and being the new girl who was dumped by one of the most popular guys in school, would be even harder. But still my mind kept wandering back to him saying "I will."
Was he just saying that? He must have. I've never had a boy like me let alone go out of his way to prove something to me. But maybe, just maybe he was telling the truth.
I come out of my daze, just as Hunter sits down next to Thalia. Immediatly she rolls her eyes.
"What do you want Hunter? I told you I can't talk to you." I tell him.
"You don't have to say anything I just wanted to give you something."
He pulls out a red sharpie and hands it to me.
"Now you have a black sharpie and a red sharpie."I smile. "Thank you..."
Hunter leaves us and goes back to the 'cool table'
from a distance I hear Michelle and Emily say things like;
"Why are you talking to that loser?!"
"Ew! I can't believe you went near that thing!"Eventually he leaves for the bathroom, and the two blondes take their chance. They walk straight up to our table, and give me a threatning look.
"Stay away from him!" Emily shouts.
"I don't know where you think your little 'thing' with Hunter was going, but it's over now." Michelle adds.
"And if we see you talking to him again, you'll have another thing coming!"
She finishes. Now I understand what Thalia was saying about them."I wasn't planning on talking to him anymore. He's yours now are you happy?" I say.
"Oh and..." Emily grabs a smoothie from her lunch tray and dumps the cold drink all over me.The entire cafeteria turns their heads to look at me. They immediatly start laughing and I'm mortified. Thalia already has a handful of napkins.
I run out of the cafetaria, salty tears running down my cheeks. Thalia charges after me, but I lose her and end up in the janitors closet.
I sit in the corner, crowded by mops and other cleaning supplies. The tears start to flow harder. All of a sudden, the closer door flies open.
In comes Hunter, of course.
"Thalia told me what happened, and I came looking for you." His voice is comforting and sweet.
"Why? Why didn't you just stay out there and enjoy your lunch."
"Because I care about you Amanda."He sits down and hold me against his chest. I don't care about Thalia right now, and I don't care about him breaking my heart. All I want right now is to stay here with Hunter and let him hold me.
