Later the next week, the doctors informed us that Thalia was getting very sick. They told me it was best to hold back on visiting, and give her time to rest and be with her family.
I listened to their instructions, but I was upset. My anxiety started to kick in, and once again my thoughts came out of the darkest corners of my mind.
I wish I could have done more to help her that day. People kept telling me it wasn't my fault, but in my mind the only person I knew to blame was myself. I had to take my mind off things, so I called Hunter.
Hunter and I hadn't been seeing each other much since the accident, so we decided to go on a date.
He took me to one of those drive-in movies. He took his dad's truck and set up blankets and pillows in the back. He finished it off with a string of fairy lights. It was so romantic, yet simple.
Eventually we were ignoring the movie and just cuddling. Once in awhile he would kiss the top of my head our squeese my arm, reasurring me that he was mine, and I was his.
"Hunter why did you choose me?" I asked. "Out of all the girls who were in love with you, you decided to fall for the lonely new girl."
"I don't know. Those other girls, they were pretty and popular, but there was something about you." He says. "The day I layed eyes on you during history class, you just radiated this special type of beauty, that i hadn't found in anyone else."
I blushed. "Hunter?" I looked up at him.
"Yes beautiful?" He replies.
"I love you."
"I love you too." He smiles. He leans in and we kiss passionately. The world stopped. There was no more hunger, there was no more pain. It was just me and him sharing this moment together.
