He threw his arm over my shoulder and kept it there as we walked. He kept me close. Surely not wanting to lose me again. And I wouldn't let that happen.

The radio came on, "friends, I'm talking about mean weather coming in fast. Some reports of tornadoes. Find shelter and take cover."

It was citizen Z, warning us. Thank god we had a friend in him.

The rest of the group hugged me before I got back in the bed of the truck. But, when I met the new guy. He gave me an awkward handshake.

"Thanks for saving my life, uhm?"

"Call me Garnett, and thank them."

"I definitely will."

Me and ten thousand sat on a blanket in the back.
He held me close. And I was grateful for it.

We got off the highway and into a town.

"He didn't hurt you, did he?"

I smiled at his concern. "No, I'm fine."

We got so lucky as to find a house with an already built in electric fence. I mean, who just has that? Before the apocalypse.

Unless, more practically, it was made after.

We all went inside as the storm slowly brewed.

"Dibs on a bedroom!" Murphy called.

"Oh no you don't." Warren stopped Murphy before he tried chugging up the stairs.

"Let the kids have it." She referred to me and 10k.

He looked at me and smirked.
He grabbed my hand and we headed up the stairs.

He slowly turned the knob. Opening the bedroom door.

Once again, another gorgeous bedroom.

I didn't pay attention to detail this time as I shut the door behind me, locking it.

We sat down on the bed, his hand was on my thigh.

"I have a gift for you." He spoke.
"Close your eyes."

I smiled, "okay."
Closing my eyes I waited.

"Hold out your hands."

I did as asked.

He placed a light object into my hands.

When I opened my eyes I was surprised.

"My knife!" "Oh thank you, thank you!

I gave him a quick kiss and then I realized, I finally got the alone time I've been hoping for.
It was just us two.
