Peter griffin was indifference towards his daughter Meg, who was the black sheep of the family. He knew that Lois was the better parent than himself. He also knew that he was unfit to be a parent but a person who wants to party and drink a lot.
He wasnt a parent-material person if he was being honest. He know he treats his children like shit and made Meg into a black sheep of the butt of the joke. He knew at one point she would snap and left them behind.
Peter was damn right of course.
Meg did leave them behind. Meg made her promise and she kept it. Peter wasnt sure how to react to this nor did the rest of the family. Well Lois sure made her reaction loud and clear much to his annoyance.
Peter sighs as he was watching tv. Friends were out and busy doing some shit while the rest of the family was somewhere..he doesnt care anymore. Dont care about anything or anyone anymore he was just done.
Peter Griffin was a selfish man who cares about only himself and he knew this.
So why be suprise about it?
