Part 2: Stockholm

Scarlett's POV

I remembered what was written in the file:

Name: Marinette Anderson

Status: Recruited on 27 December 2021

Daughter of DPD Lieutenant Hank Anderson and the youngest sister of Connor and Conan Anderson.

Reason for recruiting: To replace ex-ACME agent Julia Argent, who had mysteriously disappeared after being seen with Carmen Sandiego. It is believed that Ms. Argent married Ms. Sandiego and had a daughter, which is our current target Scarlett Sandiego. Marinette is also one of the few people who have great knowledge of her.

She was beautiful like the moon. I swear. 

I looked around for the agent until I saw her in a blue jacket that sure was too big for her to wear.

Marinette's POV

I was looking for Scarlett Sandiego to talk with her. I had the Chief's permission.

'Mari?' I heard someone call me. I wheeled around to find her.

'Scarlett-!' I yelped in fright.

'I need to talk with you, Mari.' Scarlett said.

I looked around and then said, 'We should go somewhere private.'

We went to a church and then I asked, 'well, there are so many things in Sweden to steal...the Nobel Prize, the Crown Jewels...or steal it from someone else?'

'Not this time.' she said, with a serious look. She continued, 'Million lives are at stake, I am this close (🤏 gesture) to saving lives. But if your crew shows up, it's going to ruin everything. '

'Trust me.' I said, 'I have requested my team to not show up while executing the plan.' 

I had requested Chief to tell them not to, but I don't think the prick ever listens.

'Got you, Scarlett Sandiego!' Connor said, as the whole of team Jericho filed in with gas guns aimed at Scarlett who was backing away.

'Trust you, huh?' Scarlett asked, angry at me.

'No, it's not what you think-' I said, but she wasn't listening. She used Connor and used the carbon monoxide on North, Markus, and Conan.

 I was heartbroken. She fled. I then started to run after her and saw Kara running behind her as well.

I then saw Scarlett standing on the edge of the roof. And then

She jumped. 

We both ran to where she was standing a few moments ago and she soared up into the air, the vibrantly bold red visible.

I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces.

I kept silent though. I looked at Kara and then back at where she went.

I couldn't believe it, I...

I have fallen in love with her.

I got angry and snatched the pen from Kara and contacted Chief.

I glared at her, and she said, 'Your pen's with her?'

Scarlett's POV

She sounded so sincere when she said that she told everyone to back off.

Maybe she did tell me the truth, and maybe Chief decided not to listen to her.

I felt sleepy and my eyes got heavier...heavier...heavier...

until darkness came.

I woke up again, cold and it was so painful.

'Peter?' I asked, and then the earring came loose.

'Oh no...' I murmured. I then put my hand in my pocket and then took out Marinette's ACME pen.

Yes, I'd taken her pen. I sighed and decided to just try and climb up.

I tried to climb up the snow mound but failed and fell. The red cloth that was once on my glider gave me some warmth.

I groaned and threw the pen down after clicking it and would you fucking believe it, Chief answered.

'Scarlett-!' She was horrified.

'Where are you?'

'I-I wish I-I could tell y-you...' I said and then I fell into darkness.

I dreamt of her, only her. Her in my arms, only her, nobody else. But it was shattered when I opened my eyes to see her.

She was standing at a distance looking sad.

I just looked at her.

After sometime, I was in the van.

Sophy said, worriedly, 'Scar, are you ok?'

I couldn't manage to say a sentence. I said, 'Vile...the missile...'

'I got it.' she said, smiling. She then showed the blue chip.

'W-who?'

'Why, who else? Scarlett Sandiego.' Sophy said.

I just stared at her and then painfully moved my head to the window and fell asleep.
