Chapter 6: Double Trouble

"MORNING HONEY! YOU'RE LATE."
your mom woke you up. "AH! It's already 7.45, Albedo said he'd be here at 8. These stupid boxes!" you got up and grabbed your outfit. You quickly got ready and held to your dress. "Why aren't you changing into your pretty dress?" your mom asked. "Oh I'll change at the venue, It starts at noon and I have to help with the preparations so I'm scared it'll get dirty." you responded kissing your mom goodbye. You heard a knock coming from the door. "Albedo!" you exclaimed. "Hello to you too." he smiled. Your mom gave you a smug look. "Allow me." Albedo carried your bag and outfit and placed it carefully in the car. You closed the door and got in the car. "Have you eaten breakfast yet?" he asked. "No." you muttered. "Good" he drove up to a café drive-thru. "What do you want?" he said. "Oh, a croissant and a cup of coffee please." you answered. He ordered and you ate on the way to the venue.

Eventually, you arrived at your destination. You blinked at the sight of a beautiful building covered with flowers at the front. Albedo, being the gentleman he is, carried your bag inside the building. You quickly chased him and walked into a strange guy with Sara. "Hello." Sara composed herself. "HEYA! I'm Itto, I think you've seen me in the group chat." the guy said. You shook his arm and headed to Keqing with your clipboard in hand. "Put these up." Keqing instructed the workers. "How can I help?" you asked her. "Well, mark off the caterers arriving, servants arriving and the front decorations. That leaves us with the indoor decorations only." she ssid as you checked everything off. Some people of the council even brought their boyfriends. You saw Itto, Diluc, Gorou, apparently Kokomi's date and of course the reliant Thoma carrying tables and putting up decorations.

Hours passed as you and your friends changed into your outfits. You placed a headpiece on and quickly headed to the main hall. "Hi!" you greeted Albedo. "Hello, you look lovely." he answered. "Thank you." you grinned. "Shall we?" he held out his hand. You smiled as he led the way. "Students are arriving." Jeans voice hollered through your headpiece. You and Albedo smirked as students gradually started filling the hall. You sat at a table at the very front of the hall. Ayaka got up on the stage and gave a speech. "Dear students, it is an honour to plan this wonderful event for everyone. After many sleepless nights and tiresome days, it feels amazing to be here with all of you." she said. "Hear! Hear!" Thoma spoke up being the embarrassing boyfriend he is. You all held up your glasses toasting to Ayaka's speech.

The event was a hoot, till you saw a familiar face enter with a blonde haired girl. "Ah comrade, nice to see you here." Childe approached you by your table. "It's a pleasure, Childe." Albedo responded to him. "Him? Really comrade? Surely can do better." Childe asked you. "Oh. What do you imply by that?" Albedo replied. "Nothing, anyhow this is Lumine. My date. She has a twin brother lingering around somewhere, maybe." Childe shrugged. "Excuse me, I need some air." Albedo politely walked out. "Childe, same as ever." Sara glared at him. "She has a date, go find another seat." she added. You smiled at Sara excusing yourself to go find Albedo.

"Hey." you tapped him on the shoulder finding him in another room. "Hello." he stared at his sketchpad. "Sketching during the event?" you asked. "I find it easy to unwind by sketching. I often find myself at peace this way." he said. You nodded and just smiled at him. "Just so you know, I didn't take offence to what Childe said. I'm not seeing you, I have no reason to be upset." he added. "Yeah." you muttered. "Let's go now, I'm done." he held his sketchpad down and grabbed your hand. "I hope to be seeing you though." he mumbled. You spent the rest of the day enjoying sweet moments with Albedo. Meanwhile, Childe would eye and brag to you every slight second he could. You obviously ignored him and enjoyed your time with Albedo. You could sense that he felt jealous and when the slow song came on, he asked you to dance with him.

"May I have this dance?" Childe asked. You gave a glance at Albedo as he nodded. You took him up on the offer and danced with him. "Y'know, you're not bad on your feet comrade." he smirked. "Try to keep up ginger." you teased him. His face had never been happier. Neither had the rest of the people in the room. Keqing and Ganyu were having the time of their lives. It appears that Diluc and Jean were too. You saw a lot of unexpected people on the dance floor. Yanfei and a very strange girl, Venti and Xiao and even the infamous Kaeya and Lisa tango-ing as friends. The song finally ended as you ran back to Albedo. "You look pretty." he said as he showed you his sketch. "Me?" you asked in shock. "Yes you, who else?" he laughed. He held his hand out as the both of you and waltzed to the song. Childe looked like he knew you were happier with Albedo. He smiled and got back to Lumine. Heck, soon enough everyone's eyes were on the both of you. "Albedo doesn't date, how did he get a date?" some people whispered. You grinned turning your eyes to his face. "Thank you." you murmured. He smiled softly at you as the song ended.

"You got yourself a good one." Jean approached you. "He has always worked hard, it's nice to see him enjoy himself." Ganyu added. "Oh, we're not dating. Come on, I just joined the academy." you rolled your eyes at them. "Ah, if you say so." Keqing patted your shoulder as she and Ganyu walked away. "Attention everyone!" Ayaka's voice came from the stage. "Let me introduce to you... 4NEMO!" she said aloud. They started playing some songs. You saw Venti as the lead vocalist, Xiao was on the guitar, some person that looked like the boy version of Lumine on the drums and a platinum blonde haired boy with a streak of red playing the piano. "Barbara and Xinyan are amazing backup vocalists!" a girl shouted behind you. You saw a really energetic girl behind you talking to Lisa. "Oh, sorryyyy. I'm Amber! I'll try to keep my voice down." you smiled at her and turned to Albedo. "Who's playing the piano?" you asked. "Kazuha, he is quite popular in the academy even though he barely speaks. It's as though he's invisible. A lot of girls have crushes on him although he never seems to pay attention to them." he answered. "You're loving the word though, aren't you?" you smirked. "Maybe." he said smugly.

"I'm gonna go take a seat." you can walked over to your table. "We haven't talked all day!" Yanfei approached you. "How have you been?" she asked. "Good. How about you?" you replied. "Ah a little bit of this and that. Say have you met Hu Tao?" she grinned. "I don't believe I have." you answered. "Hi~!" a voice came up and kissed Yanfei. You saw the strange girl from earlier. She looked really pretty, she had white scarlet eyes with pupils shaped like blossoms. "Woah, your eyes.." you said. "Yeah, I was born with them. I like to think of them as birthmarks. Aiya, don't think too much about it okay!" she chuckled. "Tired?" Yanfei asked. You nodded at her. "These events are especially tiring. We often find ourselves really sleepy tomorrow. Luckily it isn't a school night." she agreed. "Make sure to rest well!" Hu Tao smirked at you as they
walked away.  Albedo sat beside you quietly. You felt so tired you accidentally leaned and fell asleep on his shoulder. "Heh." he smirked. You awoke by Albedo accidentally moving his hand when he was on the phone. "Oh, I apologise." Albedo said. "Uh, it's okay." you shrugged.

It soon became late as everyone packed up and left, you and the rest of the council was packing up. The workers brought down the decorations and cleaned up the place. You leaned against a wall yawning of exhaustion. It looked like you weren't the only one. Kokomi and Yanfei was already exhausted and apparently the rest were used to the exhaustion. "Here." Albedo placed his coat over your arms. "We're almost done." he assured you. A few minutes passed and everyone was already on their way home. "Let's go." he carried your bags and clothes. He escorted you to the car and drove you home. "Thank you." you mumbled sleepily to him. "Your welcome." he let you off. He dropped you off and followed you to the front door. "Good night." he said. "Night." you smiled at him.
