Ken's POV

It was lunch break. I could see that Barbie was awfully tired as she was trying not to show it.

"You seem really tired, Barbie....have you gotten any sleep recently?" I asked worriedly.

Barbie shrugged as she took a sip from her coffee.
"Not really....training and stuff," she trailed off.
I rose an eyebrow.

I knew she was lying. We were friends ever since childhood. I could say something was up. My best guess was that something kept her up most of the night.

"Are you sure about that? Because last time I checked you guys weren't sleep deprived," I said challengingly.

Barbie sighed.
"Fine fine! You caught me," she chuckled, "I couldn't really sleep...something was in my mind. It's no big deal....I promise!"

Again I knew she was lying. But I didn't want to pressure her.
So I decided to drop the subject.

"So Barbie.....what are your plans for Christmas holidays?" I asked curiously.

"If I don't get murdered by then, I guess I want to spend it with my family and friends. This past few months life has been pretty hectic," Barbie replied.

I could say that! Barbie went through a lot!
She got tortured, poisoned, kidnapped, nearly shot, drowned fell of a cliff and so many other things.

Then she smiled and took my hand. I blushed as her skin touched mine.

"Honestly, I missed all those good times....How about we spend some time with each other?" she suggested.

"Y-yeah s-sure thing," I stuttered, "I w-would l-love that!"

I had an idea. I was going to confess to her now. I could never get a better time than now.

"B-Barbie.....I need to tell you something," I said as I gulped. Here goes nothing!

"Yes?" Barbie smiled. Ahh how I just loved her cute smiles!
Right as I was about to spill Barbie's phone rang.

She glanced at her phone and sighed.
"I'm sorry, Ken. I should take this. You can tell me what you wanted to after I'm done," she said giving me an apologetic look.

I nodded. "Sure...it's okay."
She smiled, got up and walked away.

I sighed. It seemed like the universe wasn't letting me to confess.

Barbie's POV

I glanced around to make sure no one was there. Then I picked up my phone.

"Grandpa?" I said, "Is everything okay?"

"Barbie, I can't say much on the phone. But you and your friends are activated for another mission," he said.

My breath hitched. I knew what this meant.

"Today we will hold a meeting in I3, discussing the mission," he continued, "Also don't forget to cancel your plans for the holidays because you'll be in Washington DC."

My jaw dropped. How did he know that I had plans for the holidays?
I shook my head. I didn't have time.

I nodded my head.
"Yes, sir."

"Good. I'll see you in I3 today, darling."
And with that he hung up.

I let out the breath I realized I was holding.
Washington DC? This already sounded hella hectic.

Well I knew one thing.....I couldn't spend time with Ken for sure..
I groaned in annoyance.

Then I walked back to my table and joined Ken.
"Sorry about that....what were you going to say though?" I asked.

Ken hesitated for a moment.
"Ummmm......oh I just wanted to ask if we go to the beach today," he said.

I sighed. "I'm sorry, Ken. I can't. My grandpa called. I'm being sent on a mission," I said really quietly.

His jaw was dropped as he dropped his fork.
"Y-you are k-kidding me, right?" he asked nervously, "Y-you c-can't be serious."

I sighed as I shook my head.
"I'm being serious. I'm going to Washington DC soon. We'll know the details today....but you know I can't tell you much."

He sighed, disappointment clear in his voice.
"Just be careful, okay?" Ken whispered concern clear, "I can't lose you."

I smiled as I felt my cheeks flushing.
He really was sweet.

Right then our moment was ruined when  the bell rang.

I was about to get up and head to class.

"Can Barbie Roberts come to the principal office before class," principal Miller said through the speaker.

"Are you in trouble?" Ken asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't do anything."

I sighed. "I'll see you later, okay?"

He nodded and I headed to the principal office.
I had a gut feeling that something wasn't quite right.

Right as I arrived I knocked on the door.

I could hear the sound of arguing on the other side.
I decided that it was enough and I was going in.

I was shocked by what I saw.
In one side I saw Jasmine looking beaten and bruised.
And on the other side Cassandra was arguing with Ms. Miller.

"Miss. Roberts, I think you have something to explain," Ms. Miller said as she narrowed her eyes at me.

Okay...what was going on?!

"I'm sorry but I don't really know what's even going on here," I said politely. Then I turned to Jasmine who was sobbing and weeping. Even though I hated her for harassing Ken, I was worried about her, "Jasmine, is everything alright? Who did this?"

Jasmine looked at me panicked.
"Please don't hurt me!"

I blinked in confusion.

"Miss. Jones claimed that you assulted her, Miss. Roberts," Ms. Miller said sternly.

My eyes were widened in shock as I chocked on air.
"I'm sorry...what?! Ms. Miller, you know I would never do such a thing!"

"That's exactly what I'm trying to say," Cassandra said jumping to my defense, "Barbie is my family. I know her. She would never do such a thing to satisfy a petty grudge."

"I completely understand what you're trying to say. But a couple of students had seen Miss. Roberts and Miss. Jones having an encounter....we will definitely investigate this further. But until then I have to take appropriate actions," Ms. Miller replied.
My blood ran cold. Was I going to get expelled?

"What is appropriate action?" I asked fearfully.
She sighed. "You'll get suspended for two weeks and will get detention for two months. But if this happens again, you'll be expelled."

Cassandra placed a hand on my shoulder.
"You can't do that!" she shouted, "There is no proof other than Jasmine's words to back up this bullshit!"

"Watch your tone! Unless you want to detention, too!" Ms. Miller shot Cassandra a glare.

She just groaned as she rolled her eyes.

"You're dismissed," Ms. Miller said coldly.

I stormed off feeling really angry. So this was how Patricia felt everytime the brat lied.

"Hey Barbie! Are you alright?" Cassandra asked worriedly.

I exhaled deeply.
"I'm fine," I replied, "I guess I don't have to worry about school while I'm on mission."

She patted on my shoulder.
"I'm sure we'll think of a solution to expose the bitch!"

I chuckled. "Anyway....you should go back to your class or else you'll be late."

She nodded and headed back to her class.

I sighed heavily. What was I going to do?

A/N: Oh well.....Barbie is running out of luck already. 🤭
