Patricia's POV
What a lovely way to spend your holiday....a hangout with princess brat!
I was at the entrance and I was about to get passed the security.
But right then the dogs started barking at me.
"Oh great!!" one of the guards grumbled, "Didn't you wash your jacket?"
I frowned. "I sure did....I don't know why they're barking now."
"Wash it better next time."
I rolled my eyes.
Jeez! What is with them?
I shrugged and went inside."Oh hello, Patricia!" I turned around to see Kim...and Jemma was with her.
Ugh great! Just great!
However I faked a smile, knowing full well that I had to keep my cover.
Kim nudged at Jemma.
"Hey, Patricia....how are you?"
I blinked a couple times at the sudden change in attitude but then I got it.
It seemed like that Kim was forcing her to act nice.I sighed.
"I'm good...thank you, Jemma."Then I turned to Kim, wondering what she was doing there.
But as if she read my mind, she waved her hand and chuckled."The president told me to keep an eye on the situation in case....anything happens,"then she gave a look to Jemma and continued, "But there are lots of fun things for you and Jemma to do together. How would you like to check out that White House bowling alley?"
In other words, she's here to make sure Jemma doesn't get in trouble!
If I had really been there to hang out, with a person who actually liked me, I would have immediately said yes. But I wasn't there to hang out, I was on an important mission. And Agent William Roberts had given me explicit orders to avoid the bowling alley at all costs.
"It's the worst possible place to keep an eye out for suspicious characters," he had told me that afternoon. "It's way down in the basement, and you won't see another soul down there. Plus, the pinsetter never works properly. I think Nixon broke it."
But being stuck with Jemma while she played video games didn't sound really ideal either.
So I decided to go for the best option I had here.I gave Kim a polite smile.
"Would it be possible to get a tour of the White House?""A tour?" Jemma looked disgusted, as though I’d suggested we spend the whole afternoon bashing ourselves in the heads with rocks.
"Yes," I looked at Kim, completely ignoring Jemma, "There are so many fascinating facts about the White House that I want to know about."
This actually can be an opportunity to locate any possible suspects.
Kim smiled widely.
"That sounds like a great idea," she announced, "Is there anything in particular you’re interested in?""Oh, I’m interested in everything," I replied. "The history. Thee architecture. The décor. No detail is too small."
"Then you came to the right place!" Kim exclaimed, "I know a million small details about the White House! For example, did you know that the house was first painted white in 1798? They used a lime-based whitewash to keep the stone from freezing."
Jemma groaned, frustrated. And I couldn't help but smirk at that.
We passed out of the EEOB and across the blustery outdoor corridor toward the White House. I cased the area while pretending to sound interested in Kim's recitation of each president’s favorite type of tree.
