ROCKET - DEF LEPPARD
"White lights, strange city, mad music all around. Midnight street magic, crazy people, crazy sound."
ARIEL CALLAWAY
I think Bonnie is losing it.
When I walked into work today, I expected some shipment, per usual. What I didn't expect was for her to order cases upon cases of flavored moonshine.
We never have moonshine on hand. We had a couple cases of that Razzle Dazzle shit that has barely been touched, and now, opening these boxes, it appears curiosity got the best of her and she ordered other flavors.
Peach Tea, Cherry Pie, Sour Watermelon, and something called White Lightning are the four flavors I find in the boxes delivered. And just when I thought I opened all of them, there's two more boxes filled with Moonshine cherries and peaches.
God, I bet those taste awful.
The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs have me looking up to see Miles joining me in the basement.
"Hey sugar, what can I help carry upstairs?"
"Did you know Bonnie ordered all this moonshine?" I ask changing the subject while extending a jar of Sour Watermelon to him.
Miles giggles, "I told Bonnie about a few people trying Razzle Dazzle and she goes and pulls this shit." He takes the jar from me, examining it before digging into the boxes of the other flavors.
"Peaches and cherries too? Please tell me she didn't order Moonshine marinated pickles..."
I shake my head, "Not yet at least."
"Well maybe we can come up with a deal or something, get them selling more." He offers, "Free samples– or we could do shots with orders of at least $20 or $25?"
"Yeah, definitely free samples, we should probably talk to Bonnie about all of it though. Do you know when she's in today?"
"Thought she was supposed to come at the same time as us, I'm sure she'll be here shortly." Miles shrugs.
"In the meantime, maybe we should try some of these." He grabs a box filled with various flavors as well as some of the cherries and peaches and I do the same, following him back upstairs, behind the bar.
He first cracks open the Peach Tea. "Have you ever had moonshine before?" I ask him.
"Couple times." He responds, the seal on the jar releasing with a pop.
"And?"
"It was fucking awful." He laughs.
"Mornin' tootsies!" Bonnie's voice interrupts both of us as Miles pours the tiniest amount of the peach Moonshine into a plastic shot glass.
"Hey Bon, come over here would ya?" Miles calls out to her and she's scooting herself onto a barstool next to me.
"Oh! The moonshine came in!" She says with a wide smile, "Pour me one would ya?"
Miles nods, "Actually Bonnie, we wanted to talk to you about the Moonshine."
"Got any flavor requests?" She asks.
I shake my head, "No, but why the sudden shipments of moonshine? We usually don't have any on hand."
She furrows her brows as if it was the most absurd question ever asked. "Well I met a fine fella over in Gatlinburg, he offered me a deal!"
