Amaan's POV :
I looked around us, Aayushi tugged under my chin. The same way we stood years ago. I lost her back then. At least now I can, get a fresh memory of us here, not the one which would ache me to even think about every time I step in here.
I buried my nose in her hair and closed my eyes inhaling slowly. The scent of her shampoo filling my nose and then travelling all the way up in my head, knocking me senseless, reminding me she's here. In my arms.
She pulled back and I felt her eyes on me. I felt her lips softly on my chin. I looked down at her, and her eyes were shining in that different way, which made me feel like I'm standing on the edge of a cliff ready to fall down. I wouldn't even try to not. I will happily fall down, if only the I knew that look in her eyes was what I assumed. Because I was sure enough my own eyes shone in that same way.
Like you loved someone so much, you wanted to wrap both of you, with a bubble made of an iron shield, which will hide you from the outer world for the rest of your lives.
And I realized that I did love her. What a moment it was. She wasn't even with me, but the moment I stepped in this house, and those million jagged memories formed into a mosaic painting pulling at every fiber of my heart.
Although it never felt like a big revelation, and more like something you lost, and you were looking for it. It was right in front of your eyes, but you couldn't find it. And when you did, it was mocking at you to be so oblivious. Sulking because you took too long to find it when it was so obviously right there. But, something so precious that when you finally found it, you were almost certain you never were gonna let go.
I know I wouldn't.
I lifted my hand my finger making contact with her scalp and pushing her hair softly back, as she closed her eyes sighing. She had not one speck of any make up on her face, although she loved doing it. At this point I knew her so well, that I figured she was too lazy and in too much hurry to put any make up on her face, not like she needed it anyway. She's always beautiful. Even more beautiful in my arms when she's looking at me like that. Even two times more pretty when her whole body sighs softly under my every single touch.
I love you I wanted to tell her.
"You look pretty" was what came out.
She chuckled softly, and then grinned and I found myself smiling as well. "I look like a mess" she said.
"Yeah" I said pecking her nose softly. "The only mess I've always ever wanted"
The playful smile fell a little from her and that look was back in her eyes, when she sighed again keeping her head on my head.
"My luggage is still in the car"
"Don't worry about it. I'll bring it up"
"Isn't there any rule in this building that couples can't stay together without being married or like that ?" she asked then and I can just imagined her lips in a thoughtful pout and her eyes curious and wondering even though her face wasn't visible from here.
I laughed at that. "We are not moving in together Aayushi" Though I'd love to live with you.
"We are kinda living together for 5 days though ?" she asked still wondering and I shrugged.
"It's fine"
"What if they ask for our marriage certificate ?" she asks then and I laugh again.
"Then let's get married" I said joking and can just picture her rolling her eyes.
Although I will marry you someday, was something I didn't say.
