It happened suddenly!

Chapter 4: Ruse

Emir was in the middle of the meeting when a notification popped up on his phone screen.

"2,000,000.00 lira has been deducted from your account against the cheque no. *********.
Thank you."

Emir frowned puzzled. His eyes instantly moved to Zafer who was giving the presentation. Zafer sensed something fishy. He immediately rushed to Emir as soon as the meeting got over.

Zafer: (concerned) What happened Emir? You were tensed in the meeting.

Emir: (almost immediately) Yes, Zafer! I don't remember giving any cheque to anyone but the message shows that someone used a cheque to withdraw 2,000,000 lira from my account. And what more suspicious is that it's my personal account and I rarely use it!

Zafer: Let's call the bank, they will atleast inform us about the person who withdrew this sum.

Emir: Yes, You are right! Let's call them.

Emir was taken aback when they informed that the person who withdrew the amount was Reyhan.

Zafer: (Confusingly) You gave Reyhan a two million lira cheque?

Emir: (puzzled) No... I didn't gave her any money....

Just then something clicked in his mind.

Emir: (remembering something) I remember, I sent her a blank cheque on Erzurum address. May be she used it now.

Zafer: (suspiciously) But what could be the reason of withdrawing a huge sum at a same time. Did she consulted you regarding money?

Emir: (puzzled) No..! But when I offered her salary, she refused. She said, she has plenty of it!

Zafer: (raising one eyebrow, suspiciously) What if, she really...

"....Planned to withdraw it. And that was the reason she refused the salary!"

Emir and Zafer turned towards the source of voice and was confused to see Cemre there.

Cemre came running to the boardroom. When she arrived, Emir and Zafer were already talking about Reyhan and before Zafer could complete his sentence, Cemre cuts his statement and then completed it for Emir.

Emir: (surprised) Cemre? You here? Anything important?

Cemre: (sarcastically) Yes, I am here to tell you about your ex wife and her deeds!

Zafer and Emir exchanged their glances and stared back at Cemre.

Cemre: (crossing her arms infront of her chest, confidently) Cavidan aunty's antique ruby necklace has been stolen!

Emir and Zafer: (socked) What?

Cemre: (casually) And the thief is, none other than Reyhan!

Emir shockingly stared at Cemre, without even blinking his eyes while Zafer palmed his mouth in shock. Cemre smirked inwardly. She started countdown in her mind and when she reached at "1", Emir reacted!

Emir: (trying not be angry) Where is she now? At home?

Cemre: (gritting her teeth) No! That girl ran away after stealing the necklace. (Sitting down on the chair, calmly) We were in the living room when Cavidan aunty asked Nigar to bring her ruby set. She wanted it to get polished. When Nigar reached her room, she saw Reyhan escaping from the window and she immediately shouted for help. When we arrived there, the Ruby necklace was gone! Aunty is crying badly at home, because the necklace was Tarhun's family legacy. It was gifted by your grandmother Emir, who inherited it from your great grandmother.
