It was a tight fit – their seating arrangement was.
Mikan had returned to her designated bench dazedly, choosing to settle down on the outside seat on the right side with Natsume on her left. Next to the raven haired boy was Ruka then Miharu. The blind girl had taken to scoot to the very edge of the bench, garnering a few eyes with how determined she was to put space between her and Ruka. She was at risk of falling off but that seemed to be a more preferred choice than being close to the blond haired boy.
Her absence had earned much attention and gossip but her return even more so. She had come in with Natsume following after her and that caused many whispers and speculations. However, what had really taken the cake was the round golden pin clipped on her collar, gleaming brightly under the fluorescent lights.
One could imagine the outrage and chaos.
Sumire and a handful of students had screeched and shrieked, startling more than a few people out from their shock.
Whispers and yells rang across the room as everyone started to gather around her and Miharu's shoulders hunched up with every passing second. The screams and looming presences frightened her very much and caused her to stumble into one of the tables, nearly falling to the ground if not for Natsume's quick reflex.
Not even letting herself regain her footing, she had violently shook his hand away from her bicep as if she was burned. Her panic was quick to overwhelm her and she was fast on track to a full blown attack.
She wasn't even aware when the class fell into a hush at the sweep of Natsume's glare and at his scowl, hastily staggering back toward the door, intending to leave the room. Her cane tapped furiously at the floor, clacking loudly, and she didn't even notice that her classmates were making way for her, barely feeling their eyes searing into her back and hearing the murmurs between them.
She just needs to get out of here right now.
Ruka had found her curling in the corner, shivering and whimpering, when he came back to class. Her hands had found its home in her sleeves, clenching so tightly that her skin was bloodless and her veins visible to all eyes. He hadn't dared to approach her, far too stunned at the sight to think of anything.
Not long after that, Jinno came upon them and when he saw the state of the girl, he shooed Ruka, who had been standing awkwardly but concernedly, away.
No one knew what happened and Mikan was clueless of the reason for the tension in the room. She and Yuu had come from a different corner so they hadn't seen Miharu, but the latter soon found out about everything from his neighbors who readily informed him of the situation. Needless to say, he was shocked by the revelation and appalled by the state Miharu had left in. From time to time, he would glance at the door worriedly, itching to help the blind girl but not sure on what to do.
