Shadow POV
"He's not eating?" I grunted, flicking through some paperwork.
Cedric nodded.
I signed leaning back in my chair, throwing down the paperwork. That explained it. It had been a few days now since that hedgehog had been brought onto my ship. The times I caught glimpses of him I noticed the clothes that had been given to him were beginning to get looser while his face began to look paler and hollower.
"Why didn't you notify me sooner?"
' I assumed it was from the lack of Chaos energy in the air finally getting to him but he has mentioned dietary problems and I've noticed what little food he's tried has unfortunately been brought up ... and I don't mean verbally'
I assumed the same. Emerald Islanders were said to get a little whiplash from the lack of Chaos energy in the air after living with it around them their entire lives. That's why they didn't stay away from the island for long. However, if this complication was only due to food consumption, it's easily rectifiable. I needed to keep a closer eye on this hedgehog, his health was important to acquire those chaos crystals.
'With your permission, I'll take him ashore with me after acquiring the necessary supplies for the crew, so we can look into acquiring cookbooks, supplies and any other dietary measures I should be aware of '
I nodded, before taking something out of my desk.
"Try giving him this for now and make sure he wears this" I gestured to the clothes hanging from the mounted candle holder" his current attire is appalling, to say the least"
Taking the objects, he left in silence.
I didn't know what to make of this lad. He seems to have settled comfortably into his role as a prisoner. He eagerly engaged with the crew who were starting to enjoy his company, especially those he had aided during our attack. And his energy was endless, he was always willing-no, seeking jobs that people needed assistance with. He even continued to request checking up on those still recovering. And what's more, is that he knows Maria. Why did she give him these of all things?
He made no sense. The handful of Emerald Islanders I had the displeasure of meeting were lock-lipped navy brats who looked down on everyone. Their favourite pastime was to rub others' noes with the fact that they lived on the island, among those who can create Power Crystals giving them a luxurious lifestyle. You'd think with that type of attitude they'd brag about everything but as much as they showed off they never reveal anything about the Chaos Borns, Pure Chaos Borns and Chaos Crystals that we didn't already know. The island was surrounded by as much mystery as it had power. And we needed both.
"Time passes you by brother,"
"That it does" I smiled slightly meeting the stormy greenish-grey eyes of my brother. Practically identical to myself, his black fur however was complemented with greyish-teal stripes, unlike my blood red ones. His dark forest green waistcoat with silver timing was as clean and perfect looking as ever.
"I see your little toy is still around" I stated, looking into the gold eyes of the white hedgehog that ducked behind him as he noticed my gaze "as afraid as ever I see"
"Hush, brother. You are well aware that he is worth more than that!" my brother snapped, confirming my assumptions. It'd been a few years since he accumulated the child from the slave trade and the child has been following him around like a lost puppy ever since. And my brother has grown what I considered an unhealthy attachment to it. If he wasn't so necessary to what needed to be done I'd have got rid of him long ago.
"Forgive me"
I got up from my chair, embracing my brother in a one-armed hug.
"Have you found a translator yet?" I asked taking an apple from my fruit ball and holding it out to the shy hedgehog.
