"Thanks a lot Malfoy," Blaise said, scowling at Draco. "Looks like he really will be here for the midnight duel. Shouldn't have challenged him."

"Shut up, Blaise." Draco looked down at his plate, an angry flush spreading across his cheeks.

"What duel?" Y/N asked Draco but he ignored her. "Blaise, what are you taking about?"

"Oh, didn't you hear? Malfoy just challenged Harry Potter to a duel in the astronomy tower at midnight. And, get this, he picked Crabbe as his second." Blaise laughed outright. Out of Crabbe and Goyle, the entire group thought Goyle was the smarter one. Crabbe could hold his own in a fistfight maybe, but in a match of wands and wits, Goyle would probably do better.

"You did WHAT!? Draco, you do realize that you could get hurt one of these times, right? You may think your too good to get hurt, but your not!"

"I don't need you to tell me what I am, y/l/n," Draco whispered, finally looking up from his plate. "I'm not going anyway."

This made Blaise laugh rudely. "Scared, Malfoy? Worried Potter is stronger than you?"

"Shut up, Blaise. Pansy could beat you in her sleep, so I suggest you don't talk," y/n said, scowling. Pansy, next to her, straightened and smiled viciously at Blaise. "What do you mean you're not going Draco? Why not?"

"Look, I wasn't planning on it anyway. It was a setup. I told Filch they'd be in the trophy room and he plans to catch them. Maybe they'll actually be expelled this time," Draco spat.

Y/N laid her face in her hands. Did he not learn from the last two times that doing bad things to good people never worked out for him?

Y/N didn't really speak to Draco for there rest of the night. They had nothing to really say to each other. That night, while y/n stared at the top of the bed above her, waiting for the rest of the girls to go to sleep, she decided that she wasn't going to wait for Draco, she was going to find Potter and stop him before he got expelled.

When y/n heard the steady breathing and quiet snores of all her dorm mates, she climbed out of bed and pulled her bathrobe over her pajamas. As she crept out her dorm and slowly shut her door, she thought of her Hogwarts: A History book. She had looked at it while she waited for the girls to fall asleep to figure out where exactly the trophy room was. Now that she had a simple understanding of where she needed to go, y/n went out into the corridor.

As she made it to the hall of moving staircases, she heard movement off to one side.

"Show me, Mrs Norris. What do you smell?" y/n heard Filch ask his cat, his loud footfalls getting closer and closer.

Y/N panicked and bolted for the nearest staircase as quietly as she could. After flying up two full flights of stairs, she tried her luck with a third, but all her luck had run out and she tripped about halfway up. Her knee slammed hard into the corner of the stairs, and her hand hit the stone with a resounding SLAP!

"Who's there? Show yourself!" Filch was still on the first floor and hadn't seen her yet.

As y/n went to get up, the stone staircase shifted beneath her, making her fall back onto her already injured knee.

"Ah--" y/n said, slapping her hand to her mouth to muffle the sound. But Filch had already heard.

"Oy! Come down here!" Filch began to run up the stairs, much slower than y/n, trying to catch her. Though he hadn't seen her face, he could see her bathrobe from two stories below.

Y/N ran for it, limping toward the nearest door, when she fell a third time in front of a portrait of a woman in a wedding dress, who gasped when she hit the floor.
