Wild sage and daisies rippled across the lawn in a blurry canvas of purple and white, fading into the warm colours of zinnias that grew along a creek bed; orchids of every kind lined the outside of a smooth marble path and a wide, overarching arc of ocean blue delphiniums stood at the end.

Athanasia wore a spray of each on her wedding day. She shifted restlessly on her seat as Lilien and Jennette wove them into a crown around her head.

"Stop moving," Lilien gently chided her as she delicately wove each strand in and out of each other.

"I know, I know! I'm just nervous," Athy replied, twirling a strand of hair that had been parted in front. Her friend laughed softly.

"Of course, I almost threw up with nerves on my wedding day."

"You did??!"

"I said I almost did!"

"Still, Felix is such a nice and loving person, you really shouldn't have worried."

The two girls laughed together as Jeanette pulled out the dress from across the room, it's multiple folds shimmering in the sunlight, decorated with chiffon flowers across the right shoulder that Lilien and Jeanette had painstakingly made and sewn on. Athy gasped with delight as she stood up to see it.

"Oh my god, you two seriously did add those flowers!"

Jeanette smiled.

"Of course, a promise is a promise! Besides, you'll look so good with them on. C'mon, I'll help you put it on."

Meanwhile, Lucas was in a hurry rehearsing his vows while Ijekiel and Felix tried (and failed) to calm him down. He had spent the last few weeks meticulously picking out flowers and arranging the food and seating arrangements for today's event that there were barely any days left for him to write down his vows. Ijekiel patted his shoulder and smiled.

"Even if you forget, it'll come to you when you're standing at the altar."

Felix came to join Lucas and nodded.

"It's the kind of thing that you don't need prompting for. Besides, the wedding isn't all about your vows. Although, that is important."

"Thanks, I totally needed to hear that," Lucas muttered under his breathe, picking at his dark hair.

"Do you think she'll like my suit?"

"Do you think you'll like her dress?" Ijekiel fired back.

"Of course, I trust her taste."

"Exactly."

Jeanette pulled up the zipper at the back of Athy's dress and spun her around to meet her eye to eye.

"Oh my god, you're seriously getting married..."

She covered her face with her hands as Athy awkwardly hugged her.

"It feels so long ago when you first met Lucas and went on your first date with him, and now you're going to be husband and wife," she whispered, wiping her eyes.

"Stop, I'm supposed to be the one getting emotional here!"

Athy hugged her cousin tightly and turned to Lilien.
