Misaki woke in the middle of the night 7 weeks later with a cry. A cramp spread throughout her body, her hands and feet trembling. The pain sent a wave of nausea rippling through her. Atsumu bolts upright in bed, a look of worry crossing his features. She was 38 weeks pregnant, further along than what many twin mommas make it. But tonight, as yet another racing wave of pain rushes through her, she stands, feeling something rush right through her and onto the floor. Before she can even say a word, Atsumu is already out of bed, throwing on a shirt and some sweats.
Looking up in shock, Misaki's eyes connect with his and her pink lips form an "O" of surprise. Before she has time to register what is happening, Atsumu is helping her into a clean set of clothes and getting her coat on. "Come on, let's get ya to the hospital," he hurriedly tells her, lifting her heavily pregnant body into his arms as he carries her to the car he has parked in the driveway. As the front door shuts behind them, Misaki slightly panics. "The hospital bag!" "Already got it," Atsumu cuts in.
Settling her into the front passenger seat, he buckles her in before shutting the door and racing around the car to get in and bring it to life. Backing out of the driveway and onto the street, Atsumu glances at the clock. "How long?" He asks, peering at her from the side. Misaki blinks for a second, trying to void the question. "How long, Misa? How long have you been in labor?" He demands, now fully turning his head to look at her. Misaki winces slightly. "Three days," She whispers softly, letting out another cry as yet another contraction hits.
Atsumu swears softly under his breath, stepping on the accelerator. "Why didn't ya tell me, Misa?" he asks, his heart hammering against his ribs. "I thought it was just Braxton Hicks again. But it didn't go away. Until tonight, there was no consistency..." Misaki trails off with another cry as another contraction rips through her body, longer and harder that the others. Tears leak down her face, pants escaping her throat. Atsumu looks at her in absolute worry, his eyes scanning the GPS. 15 minutes until they can get to the nearest hospital. With shaky fingers, he calls her OBGYN.
"Yeah, this is is Miya Atsumu. Misaki is in labor. We're heading to the hospital. Her water broke about 20 minutes ago," he speaks into the phone. The sound of a tired doctor meets his ears as he confirms the details. She would be meeting them there as soon as she could, leaving Atsumu to drive as quickly as he could. He knew she was hiding her pain, the agony hiding behind her eyes. Her breathing becomes panting, tears forming in the corner of her eyes until they leak. "Breathe Misa. We'll be there soon," Atsumu murmurs, comfortingly squeezing her leg with a large, warm hand.
Taking shaky, breathy pants to draw air in her lungs, her head falls back and she lets out a groan of pain. "Tsumu, get there NOW!" She cries, feeling pressure down below. Speeding, he calls the hospital ahead, letting them know to be there at the front doors with a wheelchair. In this condition, there was no way he was letting his future wife walk. At the way she was progressing, they'd be lucky to get her in the wheelchair at the hospital before she gave birth. Secretly, Atsumu wished that Misaki told him earlier.
Finally pulling up to the hospital, Misaki was full on in labor, sweat and tears soaking her body. The nurses rush to the car, Atsumu breaking and putting the car in park as he passes the keys to a late night Valet. Before they knew it, Misaki had been rushed inside, and they were set up in Labor and delivery, Dr. Aoi rushing in behind them, her pink hair pulled up into a bun. "Alright, let's see how far along you've progressed, Miss Sakusa," she says seriously, lifting the gown they had just changed Misaki into. Whistling as she takes a single glance, Dr. Aoi takes a deep breath and smiles.
"I want you to put your feet into the stirrups for me and take a deep, deep breath," She says, lifting the gown enough to get down. "What's wrong?" Atsumu demands, looking panicked. He also leans down and glances before his eyes roll back into his head, his body dropping to the floor with a heavy thud. "Tsumu?!" Misaki panics, sitting a little straighter, her eyes wide. "Nurse Seiji, can you...?" Dr. Aoi gestures to the blonde setter passed out on the floor. Nodding, the male nurse with pale brown hair leans down, pulling Atsumu clear so that they can maneuver around him.
