Retribution was sweet. Misaki knew it was only a matter of time. She had a backing that was as strong as iron and every day, a little more sunshine filled the dark corners of her mind. Atsumu saw a massive improvement as Momo and Nariko filled the gaps that she was afraid to even show to him. But he was patient, his love for her making him an even more mature man than the one he started this relationship out as.

For Misaki, the day finally came when a trial date was given. She was to face her fears. The people who made her life hell, she had to forgive them to move on. Azami was dead. The dead could never hear her forgive them. But Kame was going to be put away for his crimes to her. For other crimes involving violence, drug trafficking, assault. But even with all the healing, she was scared.

She didn't want to be stuck back in that place where she didn't know if she would see her family alive again. It struck panic in her heart. The cold fingers of dread dragged up her spine until it seized her heart in an icy grip that left her shivering, wanting to curl into a ball in a corner.

But Misaki knew better, not to let it control her. If fear was to rule her life, she would never move on. She would never be okay again. And all the healing would have been for nothing. But being brought back down to Earth with Atsumu wrapping a warm arm around her, she knew she had backing. No matter what, for better or worse he was here for her.

"What are ya thinking about?" he asks, his sleepy eyes meeting hers as he yawns widely. Misaki shifts in the bed, giving a wry smile. "I'm just stuck in my head. I'm ready to get this over with. I want to move on. I want it so bad Tsumu... I feel like if I can't get past this then in some way, I've failed," she admits, biting her bottom lip.

His eyes instantly show more alert, her confession waking him the rest of the way. "Yer no failure. Yer the bravest woman I have ever met in my life. Yer a survivor. Remember that Misa. Ya survived and ya came back to me. To our family. I can never be more thankful than I am right now. Healing takes time. So take yer time. I'm waiting for ya. I'll always wait for ya."

Misaki tears up, a small wet droplet sliding down her cheek. "What did I ever do to deserve you?" she whispers softly, curling into his large, warm body. "Ya were born. That's the greatest gift I was ever given," he chuckles. Misaki blushes slightly. "Today is the day. I'm so nervous," she admits softly.

"Don't be. I'm here with ya. Bokuto is gonna babysit with Hinata. Everything will be okay. I will be right there, and so will yer family. Let's put him away for good," he breathes, brushing a hair from her face. Shakily, Misaki nods. He was right. This was  a long time coming. The twins were nearing nine months old now. It had been six months since they were kidnapped. It was time.

Slowly, the two get up out of bed, getting ready for the day. The twins were dressed, fed and a bag packed for Bokuto and Hinata to use for them. Misaki helped put them in the car and shortly after, they were dropping them off. "We're rooting for you," Both Bokuto and Hinata say as they hug them both before taking the kids inside, out of the cold.

Climbing back into the car, Misaki turns to Atsumu. "Tsumu... What if they let him go?" she suddenly breathes in fear. The male shakes his head. "They got too much on him, way too much to let him go," Atsumu tells her, rubbing her arm. Misaki nods, trying to believe it. "Yeah. I'm just overthinking things," she nods, trying to convince herself.

The drive took only a short time. Court didn't start for another half an hour, but reporters were there, flocking like an aggressive group of seagulls, hungry for the smallest tidbit of information.

Cameras were immediately shoved in their faces even though Misaki and Atsumu declined to give any information at all. The building was warm, blocking out the winter air as it blew and rattled the doors, the security guards keeping out the media that was clamoring behind them.
