The next morning Loki and I were awakened by my mother bursting into our room. She wanted to let us know breakfast was ready before she hurried off again. I groaned, throwing my head back onto my pillow at her behavior.

I had a feeling my mother wasn't buying that Loki was my boyfriend. I figured she assumed she would find something to use against me. All she found though was me curled up asleep in Loki's arms. I caught the glare he threw at her when she burst through the door and had to hide my giggle by burying my face into his chest and faking embarrassment to her.

"I already don't like your family," Loki rasped out annoyedly, still half asleep. I giggled as I pressed a light kiss to his lips. The action made him more alert causing him to tighten his grip on me.

"Don't worry, I'm not fond of them either," I giggled before I pressed another quick kiss onto Loki's lips.

I had planned to slip out of bed and getting ready in the bathroom, but Loki had other ideas. He quickly changed our position, moving me to my back with him looming over me. His raven black hair fell loosely around his face which held a serious look as he gazed down at me. He had both arms on either side trapping me on the bed with his body.

"I am here. I won't allow them to make you miserable this whole week. I've grown rather fond of you," he confessed as he continued to loom over me. The position would scare most people, but for me I felt safe. He pressed a quick kiss to my lips and lifted himself off the bed so we could get ready for the day.

Once we were both ready, we made our way down to the kitchen. As we neared the kitchen, I heard a voice I dreaded ever hearing again. I really had hoped this wouldn't happen but apparently my family doesn't consider me at all.

The change in my mood was obvious to Loki, making us stop before we walked in. I could see the concern in his eyes as he saw my stiff body language. He didn't say a word, and he didn't have to. He wanted me to want to tell him willingly. He didn't want to force it out of me.

I took a deep breath and looked him in the eye. "I heard Adam's voice in there," I whispered looking at the floor. I watched Loki bristle at the mention of his name. I had told him the full story at the tower about Adam and he had decided to hate him for it.

"Well then love, let us show him the amazing woman he lost. I should really thank him. I wouldn't be here with you if it weren't for him," he finally responded, trying to make me relax a bit. He pressed a soft kiss to my lips, and I grabbed his hand to walk into the kitchen.

As we walked in, all conversation stopped. I quickly spotted Adam with my father and uncle as they drank coffee in the breakfast nook. I dropped Loki's hand as I led him over to the kitchen island and began making us both a plate. I was just waiting for Adam to open his mouth like I knew he would.

Once I had our plates made I gestured for Loki to follow me over to the table so we could eat. As I sat our plates down and we slid into our seats, Adam finally decided to make his move. He got up from the table he was at and approached the one where Loki and I sat. I chose to sit directly in front of me. I felt Loki tense and grabbed his hand under the table.

"Well, my, my Mia. Look at you now," Adam sang as he leaned forward with a predatory grin. "Didn't take you long to find my replacement," he smirked, glancing at Loki who stared daggers at him.

"I see it as an upgrade Adam. You see, unlike you, Loki actually respects me," I smiled back at him causing Loki to watch the exchange carefully.

Adam raised a brow looking between Loki and myself. "You mean the guy who attacked New York treats you better than me," Adam half laughed.

"I wouldn't talk about things you have no clue about. As well I may know one hundred separate ways to kill you, but I guarantee my boyfriend is a lot more creative in that aspect than I am. Plus, while you're out here acting like royalty, Loki actually is," I smirked knowing I was beginning to irritate him by outwitting him. He always hated that I was more intelligent than he was.
