Part 7 - Next dance

The next dance couldn't come soon enough for Goh. He pushed through masses of people before stumbling in front of Prince Ash, who caught him by the hand.

"You're back! I'm glad."
"M-me too," Goh stuttered. He couldn't help it; he was nervous after looking to the Prince's eyes.

"Well then, may I have this dance?" Prince Ash requested formally, bowing.

"You may." It was a slow waltz, very romantic. The boys danced in comfortable silence, until Ash broke it. At this point he had his head nearly on Goh's shoulder, and he whispered into his dance partner's ear:

"You're not really a maiden, are you?" Ash grinned.

"I-" He struggled to find a reply to such a direct statement.

"It's ok. I don't mind."
"Really?" Goh asked, a bit shocked.

"I think I prefer dancing with you, knowing you're someone I can trust more. You don't seem like someone who would only be in it for the riches."
My family are, Goh nearly stated, but refrained from admitting his true status for the time being. Instead he said, "Thank you."
"You are very welcome, sir."

Goh felt elated. Prince Ash, THE Prince Ash, likes me for ME! He squealed in his mind, and would do so out loud if he wasn't around anyone. This really was the best night of his life. The servant boy had a spring in his step as he span across the dance floor. Girls and their partners all around stopped dancing to watch Prince Ash and his chosen maiden perform. Goh was sure he'd even seen Misty and Serena look at him with jealous eyes! They hadn't recognised him, though. Every beat of the music was another dance step, and with every dance step the boys felt happier and happier. They both wished the dance could last forever.
