For a long time now, a deep sleep had claimed Kassa. A few minutes after she had fallen asleep Sarkon had awkwardly placed his coat around her waist and shoulders to keep her warm. Thankfully no white bloods had appeared, Sarkon assumed that it was lunch time for them... Gosh! Sarkon was so hungry, and as if in reply his stomach rumbled inside of him.
Kassa shook, even with his coat on her the cold nipped at her skin.
I shuffled closer to her, slipping my arm around her shoulders, at least she's asleep. I told myself. Even so I shouldn't have.
There was no sign of the White Bloods, thankfully. Although I wondered what they would look like, some bloods had very defined details that identified them as a certain colour. I was very tall and had a heavily built structure, like all the rest. My markings only distinguished me as a Warrior not a pure Yellow Blood.
I had never seen a White Blood before, that was mainly because Yellow bloods tended to start a war with anyone they came across, that was why most of us were warriors.Kassa stirred, quickly, I snatched my arm back to my side. But she didn't wake, only rolled towards me. Warmth, she only wants warmth. I kept my arm at my side after that.
Sembi was being watched by the leader of the Winged creatures, intently. The leader scraped his hoof on the ground and snorted, Sembi shouldn't have interacted with the females even if it was just to find friends. The leader snorted at Sembi, thick with venom. The Stallion simply bowed towards him as if to taunt him. Stupid Stallion. I cursed him, this was not a fight he wanted to have, the White bloods would certainly notice the tension, plus the dragons might get startled and light the place up!
The leader charged, faster than he'd ever seen Sembi run, he would have no chance. But when have I seen Sembi run...? The Stallion matched his pace, maybe even faster. They we're going to crash in the middle. I held my breath as Sembi slammed into the leader pushing him back. The leader let his anger fuel him as he sprouted golden horns on top of his head. No wonder he's the Alpha! Sembi is going to get crushed. But all our Stallion did was spread his wings, accepting the fact that he was outmatched.
No. He wasn't accepting it, he was... Challenging him. No, now's not the time! They crashed again, a horn scraped Sembi's chest hard, drawing thick White blood that ran down his leg to his hoof. Sembi seemed to glow, this time when they cracked Sembi knocked the leader over with his wing and kicked him hard in the back. The leader was sent tumbling to the ground.
Sembi had won.
The other females bowed their heads slightly and moved towards him sniffing their new leader. Stupid Stallion nonsense. I thought. I caught Sembi's eye, complete smugness. Fair play.
Suddenly, my eyes caught on movement near a small hit, buried in the rock. A white blood emerged, skin as pale as the stars and hair whiter than the moon. She looked young, and would have been very skinny if it weren't for the layer of muscle they gave her arms a delicate curve.
I knew then what they looked like: beautiful.
