Sarkon didn't know why he had told the girl the story. It had wrecked him from the inside out, but he had needed to. He was only afraid for her reaction although he didn't admit that, not even to himself. Only the woods dared to move, the chatter of birds escaping into the air. Even the Stallion nibbled the grass in silence.
I peeled myself from the tree I was leaning against, my body a dead weight. I took a step, then another, and made my way through the long grass of the forest.
What has been done has been done.
What has been said...has been said. I told myself as I kept walking, anywhere but back. Anywhere but to the dreadful silence that was Kassa.Monster.
I didn't think that at all, she had said, well...not to me.
What had that meant? Monster. That's what I was, what I had always been. Aurora had been blessed with the true gift of life! And I had snuffed it out, like a cigarette in a tin. She hadn't had deserved that.
Monster.
Not to me.Red blood. What did that mean too? What powers did Kassa own? A simple girl, no longer. Secrets. Kassa hid so many secrets. I had a feeling I only knew a slice of her, yet I needed to learn the rest. More. I needed to know more.
There was nothing left. This world, empty...bland. I had existed for many years, but I had barely lived. I don't know if I still wanted too. It was the same thing every day, yet now Kassa has been thrown onto my path. Did that mean something too? I had never been one to believe in Gods, but some did. Maybe they had brought her here? A gift? Or something much much worse?
