The girl's magic sang, waiting for her to release it. As their souls connected on the White Dragon, Kassa felt as though she was as light as a cloud and as free as the wind. Sarkon had said nothing, he was held in the dragons silver claws that, to him, felt colder than ice. Autumn, the young White Blood who had called for their help, flew with his wings. Wings were the common power of White Bloods, hence Kassa's fathers magic being her own set of wings. Her mother's being her darkness and her's being fire. No one had ever heard of such a thing, but Kassa had three sets of magic. Maybe even more.
Even I didn't know what had happened, one second I was gazing at her in awe. The next it wasn't the snow under my feet, but a dazzling set of snow-white scales. The White dragon flew with grace, if you could call it that. Her wings didn't really seem to beat, only the air allowed us to fly. It was like we were floating, but at the speed of sound.
A sight lay below me. There was Ferrum, Elise's dragon, laying on the floor on his back. It was only when we came closer that I noticed the purple arrow sticking out of his chest.
Elise lay bent over her beast, her body shaking enough to tell me that she was crying. From above I heard a dragon's whimper that had carried in the air. Ferrum was dying.
We swooped down, the force of it unimaginable. But we touched down on the floor like a feather. Sarkon was released and Autumn had already ran to Elise screaming something incoherently.
I ran to Elise.
"Help him." Was all she could muster. "You have to." She sobbed again. It was then I wondered if I had healing magic. It was worth a shot.I placed my trembling hands over Ferrum's enormous chest, I concentrated. Fire flickered at my fingertips, but it only burnt the wound shut. I pulled back.
"Sorry! Sorry I didn't..." Elise stopped me, she knelt over Ferrum and then whispered."It was too late anyway." Only despair accompanied her words.
Then someone unexpected happened. Elise clasped her chest in her hand and fell on top of Ferrum. Autumn called to me.
"She's bound her life to his. She's going to die!" He shouted. I looked back to Elise hopelessly."Violet Bloods!" She gasped "It's ok. I'll be with Ferrum. I wanted this to happen...I'll meet her in the stars." Those were her last words, before life left her and her body fell limp. Sarkon ran up to her.
"No! No Elise! Come on." He said as he began CPR. But we both knew it was hopeless.
The White dragon twitched his tail at me when I walked out. I vaguely felt her following me.
Ahead of me, I saw at least a hundred purple figures. They were all wearing the same uniform, the uniform that was my Father's last sight. The uniform that murdered my Mother. The uniform I saw in my nightmares.
"Stand back." I commanded the dragon in a soft, calm tone. She seemed to understand because I felt the beat of her wings. Some part of me knew she wasn't far.Magic pulsed at my chest. Your going to let us free?! We have been waiting for this! Free... It chanted. As I released it in a black tsunami, I answered my magic's question.
"Yes. Yes, I am."I laughed as my darkness trampled soldier after soldier, my fire burning the dead. Only my wings kept me company as they fluttered weakly, as if not liking what we were both laying our eyes on:
A mass killing.
