Josie's PoV

What is love?

Jeff Coleman once said, "If magic is the force that binds the universe, then love is the force that binds the heart." Love, primordial and timeless, transcends space and time-it has always existed and will endure long after we are gone.

Coleman also described love as our origin, our sustenance, and our ultimate destination. Within its embrace lies the meaning and fulfillment of our existence, if only we have the courage to heed its call.

Helping Hope regaining her humanity was not easy.

We strategized and trained for the fight ahead. I even attempted to impersonate Dark Josie, but my efforts are wasted.

The rest of the Super Squad grew weary of their attempts to aid Hope. And because of our father, Lizzie refused to assist.

But I never abandoned Hope.

She never gave up on me, so I refused to give up on her.

Hope saw me when no one else could.

She never judged, always listened. She guided me through my darkest moments, reassuring me of my strength to rediscover my light.

I returned the favor.

While the Super Squad grew tired, I persevered.

So, I took matters into my own hands.

I successfully restored Hope's humanity by staging my own kidnapping, enlisting MG to inform Hope of my plight. I expected her to ignore it, but she didn't.

She came.

Ready to strike against the pack that held me, Hope halted when she saw me in captivity. I intervened, and what followed was a deeply emotional conversation between us.

Hope's PoV

Once my humanity flipped back on, Josie became the sole person willing to talk to me.

At Salvatore Boarding School, every student remains wary of my presence. The other members of the Super Squad have been too occupied to engage with me.

As for Lizzie, her animosity towards me persists due to my actions involving Dr. Saltzman. I killed him.

I despise myself for it; I've become a monster.

That's why I always stay in my room. I don't want them to fear me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Josie when I saw her approaching me.

I'm always here at the Old Mill.

It's my second hideaway when I don't want to scare them. When I get bored, I just transform.

"I couldn't find you at school or in your room, so I came here," Josie said, smiling as she sat beside me on the wooden bench.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from me," I glared at her, but she ignored me, engrossed in studying my face.

"You look pale again, Hope," she said worriedly, examining my expression.

"I don't need to drink blood that much. I've just been lounging around these days; it doesn't require much of my energy."

It's been days since I stopped drinking the blood bags Josie gave me.

I don't think I deserve to live anymore.
