It's currently 9:32 p.m and I finally decided to head over to the Salvatore's and tell them about what happened.
I drove to the Salvatore's and parked out front. I got out of the car and heard music from inside. I walked inside to see that they were having a party. Not just any party, a huge engagement party for Damon and Jane. In a corner of the house, I saw Damon, Stefan, Caroline, Tyler, Enzo, Lily, and Jane, drinking and laughing. I wasn't invited, yet a majority of my friends are here. I pushed past people and got close enough without them noticing so I could listen to them over the loud music.
"Shouldn't we feel bad for ignoring Elena for weeks to plan this?" Matt asked. They all paused a minute to think.
"No." Jane replied. Of course she'd say that.
"Yeah, we shouldn't feel bad. Who even cares about Elena right now?" I felt tears prick my eyes. I pushed my way through the crowd and outside.
When I got in the car I let tears fall. I started the car and drove to the dorm.
Once there, I grabbed my suit case and my duffel bag and started throwing my clothes and bath necessities in it. I started shaking my head rapidly as I did so. I need to get away. I need time to think. I wiped tears away. I sniffed as I grabbed my stashed bottles of vervain water and packed them. They don't care anymore. I grabbed my phone charger and phone. I put sunglasses on and left the dorm with my suit case and my duffel.
I put my things in my car and drove to the bank. I got some money from my account, $1000.
I drive two towns over and rented a motel room. It had a bathroom, two beds, a table, two four chairs, and a tv. I set my suit case and duffel on one of the beds, I took my glasses off and plopped down on the other. I lied back and closed my eyes. Tears still spilled out.
After a few minutes, my phone started to ring. With my eyes still closed I pulled my phone off of my pocket and pressed answer.
"Hello," I croaked. My throat was extremely dry.
"Elena?" my eyes flew open. I quickly sat up quickly at the sound of the voice.
"Elijah." I stood up.
"Elena, are you alright you sound...." he trailed off. I sniffed and started wiping away my tears.
"I'm fine," I sniffed again and gave a shakey laugh. "I'm fine, how are you?"
"I'm well."
"How are Rebekah and Klaus? If I remember correctly, you guys live in New Orleans now?"
"You remember correctly. Niklaus and Rebekah are well."
"That's good. How's New Orleans?"
"It's like Mystic Falls in ways. It's never boring. There's always vampire, werewolf, and witch problems." I sniffed again and gave another shakey laugh. "Are you sure your alright, Elena? Have you been crying?"
"Yeah, it's nothing. I'm fine. Actually I think I'm a little better. I um...left Mystic Falls for a bit to get away. I'm not very far, just a few towns away."
"Why did you call?" he asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Earlier today, well more like yesterday, you called me."
"Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot. I was just calling...." to talk about my problems with you because I'm so alone right now. "to just say, hi. We hadn't talked in a year or so."
"Well, I must go. I have some important business to attend to with Niklaus and Rebekah." my face fell. "Don't forget that whatever possibly made you leave, your compassion is a gift, Elena. Carry it with you always and forever." I smiled, remembering the letter that I had actually lied about burning. I actually kept it in the lake house before I burned my house down.
"I remember reading that in a letter once. I also lied about how I burned it. I actually still have it."
"I'm glad to here that. Goodbye, Elena."
"Goodbye, Elijah." he hung up and I sat back down on the bed. I lied down and let darkness consume me.
The next morning I woke up and drove to the nearest bank in town. I made a new account and put all my money in it except for $20 for food.
I drove to a small diner near the hotel. I ordered a coffee and sat there still day. At dinner time I bought dinner and when finished I payed and left.
I stopped for gas on the way back to the motel, using the rest of the money I had out. I drove back to the motel. No one has called. They probably didn't even notice I'm gone.
I changed out of my clothes and got in the shower. After I threw on a white tank top and a pair of green plaid pajama pants. I put my hair up in a messy bun.
I crawled into bed under the covers. I snuggled into the warmth and feel asleep.
