To ease the minds of the entire family, Elena scheduled a doctors appointment to find out if she could possibly be pregnant. As the time approached to go to the doctors, the apprehension flooded. On one hand she has always wanted to have kids. But due to her involvement with vampires, it was out of the cards. Hell, especially when she was one. But now... she possibly had an opportunity. But on the other hand she didn't want to selfishly raise a baby in the life she chose. Constant danger and trauma and death due to being unable to stay away from the supernatural. Unable to fall in love with a normal human and live a safe cookie of cutter life.
Outwardly scoffing, It was impossible. It didn't matter what she thought or what she wanted. She hasn't been with anyone but Kol and he was incapable of procreation. There would be no baby. No pregnancy. She scoffed at the crazy notion. Obviously if it was true, they'd keep and raise the baby. No question. Kol though didn't seem like the paternal type. Well, he was great with his niece but it is always different with one's own child. She loved Kol, but if she had to choose between him and their impossible baby. Their baby, no question.
Trying to swallow down the nerves that had been attempting to crawl up her throat from the pit of her stomach. The time for the appointment was approaching. Her mind and body both knew it. Kol had originally offered or demanded he accompany his lover. Elena felt the need to go on her own just in case the impossible was possible. Her lover was a hot head, she knew well, so she didn't want to risk an explosive scene in public.Elena shook her head as she drifted back out of her thoughts. With a very heavy sigh, she pulled the strap of her purse over her shoulder. And with a brave face and troubled heart, she walked out the door of her new home alone.
Kol felt more anxious than he had in a long time. The fear and paranoia of Silas rising a few years ago was no match for the present. Elena had major doubts. Understandably so since vampires are unable to procreate, they're dead. But Klaus could. Sure, he's a hybrid but it doesn't change the fact he's dead. The impossible was known to be possible in their world. They lived a supernatural life of vampires, werewolves, witches, doppelgangers, hybrids, and more. All known legends. Myths that are very real. Being a vampire father was not so impossible in comparison.
The fear stirring in his stomach became more intense the longer he mulled over the maybe baby. He was a devil on Earth. Relishing in desire, impulse, and sin. He was a taker. Selfish. Not too unlike Damon Salvatore. But the very opposite of Stefan Salvatore. Very in control. A giver. A savior. Was Kol capable of giving that much of himself away? Be a giver? He still had his doubts about deserving Elena. He was just too selfish to let her go without her request. How could he love anyone else to the extent he learned to love Elena? He was not meant to be a father. His self doubt was so strong in this moment. He wanted to believe he could ever change to that extent. To be so tender, so gentle. So doting and loving. He did find himself surprisingly calm and soft with Hope. His sweet little niece. He witnessed his older brother's change due to fatherhood. Not a complete change but a worthy and loving father. Why not Kol? After all, the child would be a part of him and a part of Elena, his love.
Taking a strong sip of his whiskey, he decided. He'd try, if the pregnancy proved to be true. For Elena. For his child. For himself. He had to try. Deep down he knew his family would be there every step of the way through this crazy journey. If not for him, then for his child. And at the worst, if he abandoned them and proves he does not deserve to be in his child's life, the Mikaelsons would still all be there for Elena and his child. Family, always and forever. Even if he was not a part of that oath, it didn't matter. Elena would become family and his siblings would not abandon their niece or nephew. The two would never be alone. Kol found himself smiling at the thought of being a father. Having another chance at something human. It caught him off guard to feel that way. But he did. And there was a chance their child would be gifted with magic. His smile grew. Standing from his brother's couch, he exited the room in search of his siblings. They needed to talk.
