Early 2019

"This isn't working for me Gale!!! I hate it here, i wanna go back to woodsboro" Dewey exclaimed shouting at his wife.

"You knew what you were getting yourself into Dewey. We have only been here for two months" Gale shouted back.

"I wanted so much more!!" Dewey exclaimed sitting himself down on their sofa.

"Well if you wanted kids so bad you should have gone off with Judy and played happy families with her and her kid" Gale then laughed.

"What's so funny?" He asked.

"You and Hicks!" She laughed.

"I love you!!" Dewey exclaimed.

Gale then left the house leaving Dewey on his own.

He had started drinking to deal with his emotions.

He hadn't been the same since all those kids died during the last massacre and how he had failed to protect them and his fellow officers.

That same day, Dewey quietly packed a bag of his things, and that night Dewey left to go back to Woodsboro.

The next day he arrived back in his hometown and just wanted to see his sister.

He knocked on the door and Tessa answered. "Dewey!!" she exclaimed hugging her older brother.

"Hey sis" he smiled at her.

"What are you doing here? Where's Gale?" She asked.

"I've come home" he smiled.

They sat down in Tessa's lounge and she put the kettle on.

"Coffee?" She asked.

"Thanks, sis." He replied "where's Randy and the girls?" He asked.

"Randy is at work, and the girls are at school" she answered coming back into the room with two hot cups of coffee.

"I needed to come home" Dewey said sipping his coffee.

"But Gale is your wife, the love of your life!" Tessa exclaimed.

"I haven't been happy Tess" he said solemnly.

"Why?" Tessa asked.

"New York, it was so lonely. Gale was being so successful and happy, and I just felt so useless. No job, no kids to look after. I just saw my whole life as one big joke" Dewey said.

"You are no failure Dewey. You are one of the bravest men I know" Tessa said hugging her elder brother.

"If it weren't for me, Tate would still be alive, Ross would still be alive. So many would be alive. Oh sis!!" Dewey said sobbing into his sister's shoulder.

Tessa then began to cry. "Oh Dew,I am so sorry you have been feeling like this. You should have told me" Tessa said.

"I didn't want to burden you. You have your own life to lead" Dewey said wiping his eyes.

"No matter what, we are in this together. But you need to decide about Gale. If you really aren't happy then don't go back but I know you both love each other deeply" Tessa answered.

And so Dewey made the decision to stay in Woodsboro and file for divorce.

The divorce was finalized months later.

Dewey was retired from the police where Judy Hicks took over as sheriff of Woodsboro.

He lived in a trailer park on his own drinking to numb his regrets and pain.

He kept a photo of him and Gale in happier times on a mantelpiece next to a box containing a ring belonging to Tatum. And his badge and gun in another box.

He drank every night and day.

He told his family including his sister and brother in law to stay away.

He grew bitter at the world.
