They both worked together in a bowling alley in Modesto.
They were driving to Woodsboro to visit Sam's younger sister Tara who had been attacked.
"Why does Woodsboro sound so familiar?" Asked Richie driving and turning to look at Sam.
"The stab movies?"Sam asked not able to believe he didn't know. "Based on real events that happened here".
"Nope, not ringing any bells" He said confused.
"You've never see them?" She asked.
"I've never seen gone with the wind either but I dont consider it a huge hole in my cinematic education" He said.
"Most of the stab movies are based on events that happened in my hometown" she explained.
"Define things" He asked.
"Things like a guy named Billy Loomis and his friend Stu Macher carved up a bunch of high school kids wearing this mask" she informed him.
"Like in Halloween?" He asked.
"No, not like in halloween" she replied.
"It sounds a lot like halloween" He insisted.
"And every decade or so some idiot gets the idea of copycatting what happened. The last time was in 2011 when two kids Jill Roberts and Charlie Walker killed a bunch of kids and cops. Jill was the cousin of Sidney Prescott who was one of the original survivors along with Dewey Riley, Tessa and Randy Meeks, and Gale Weathers" Sam explained to him.
"So you grew up in a place that is not only famous for having serial killers but also where copycats crop up every few years. And we are going there voluntarily? Wow" He said flabbergasted.
"I need to make sure Tara is OK. Besides you didn't have to come" Sam said.
"I wasn't going to let you come here alone was I? I just don't wanna be sliced up by some Jason Voorhees wannabe. But can I ask you a question?" He asked.
"Yeah" she said quietly.
"Do you have any idea who would wanna hurt your sister wearing that mask?" He asked.
Unable to meet Richie's eyes she said "not quietly.
