Light knew something was wrong. He could feel it in his bones, the constant feeling of eyes burning into his back. At first, Light dismissed it as a simple stalker. It wouldn't be the first one he's had. Eventually, they would disappear, bored with seeing the same routine day on day and nothing interesting, but as a few days passed, the feeling was still there. Thinking back on it, Light is stupid to dismiss something this quickly. He's fighting for his life here. Anything that didn't happen the first time around is important. It needs to be catalogued and analysed. He needs to figure out who is following him and what their intentions were.

They are trained. Light worked that out quickly. Every time Light tried to lose his stalker, by either moving amongst a large crowd of people or darting through short and narrow alleyways, his stalker easily keeps up or finds him again, so, either this stalker is good at tracking people, or they have some other means e.g., cameras to keep tabs on Light's movement when he broke away. It didn't take him long to connect L with this stalker. There is no one else capable of this level of stalking. Had it been the NPA, then Light knows every single tactic to avoid or lose the police. L seems to take everything to the next level and if this is L, then he's narrowing in on Light sooner than the teen expected. He needs to get out of here. He was heading home from school. It probably wasn't wise to attend school when L was after him, but Light wasn't losing his perfect attendance because of the bloody detective. Light might not have his priorities set straight, but he's died and forced to come back to life. He has an excuse for clinging to the little normality of his life.

Something's different compared to the last couple of days, the stalker, or police, or whoever's following him. They feel closer as if they're closing in on him. They're going to arrest him. That must be it. These past days were surveillance and now they're planning on making the arrest. Today they want to arrest him and... Light has all the information about the death note, Shinigamis and his own death. Oh no, if L got that information... well it probably sounds like the rambling of a madman (and the jury is still out on whether Light came back mad) then he'll dismiss it, but this was L and the small chance he believes what written in the notebook then anything could happen and whilst it may work in Light's favour to prove he is innocent and working to solve the Kira case, it raises more questions about how Light obtained this information, but they could use it to find the real Kira. The information can also work against him and knowing his luck it probably would, L would see Light as an accomplice, and someone only working with Kira could have access to all this information.

Light couldn't risk it. He needed to hide his school bag before he's arrested. Yes, fleeing will draw more attention to him, but in the long run, he'd rather be arrested and keep the information from L. To be fair, he doesn't want to deal with L end of but when has anything benefited him ever since Kira emerged. That being settled, Light broke out into a run, pushing past people as he darted into a large department store, barely slowing down as he swerves out the way to avoid the shelves filled with merchandise.

He still hears the thundering footsteps behind him, although there is now a considerable distance between Light and his pursuer. The man obviously is more considerate of people around him than Light is. He didn't have the time to manoeuvre around people. He needed out of here and drop his stuff off at a secure location.

Light's only been here once, not long after this shop closed, a year ago. Light needed somewhere to hide, his so-called friends had tried to set him with a girl who had a massive crush on him and well, long story short, she turned out to be a stalker who started following him everywhere to make sure he wasn't dating anyone when he turned her down. He'd duck down this alleyway and in the backdoor, in the hope, he'd lose her and promptly stayed there for a few hours to make sure he'd successfully lost her. It's the perfect place to drop his bag off, only someone from Tokyo would know where the formal Asakusa Tatsumiya was, Naomi is from Tokyo, she only moved to America to join the FBI, she's a local and she'd know where to go to collect his things later when it's safe to do so.

Light heavy pushed against the backdoor before shoving it back in place before his stalker noticed where he ducked inside. He crept through the shadows and away from the windows before hiding behind the old checkout desk and pulling his phone out.

The Brains:

Have a slight problem, L's trying to arrest me.

The Braun:

LIGHT! What happened? Get out of there! We'll figure something out to deal with L.

The Brains:

I can't. I'm going to let myself get arrested to draw attention away from you. I need you to keep researching Teru and Kira. I've dumped my stuff in the abandoned Asakusa Tatsumiya. If you can collect them later today, we can't risk the death note and Shinigami information getting into L's hands even if it makes me look more suspicious.

The Beauty:

I leave the country for a month, and you get yourself into trouble! You're a walking, talking disaster, Light Yagami!

The Brains:

I'm aware

The Braun:

I'll get your stuff. How do you plan to get yourself out of jail to catch the real Kira before you die in his place again?

The Brains:

I have one advantage over last time

The Beauty:

Which is?

The Brains:

I've already experienced this before

The Beauty:

You'll be dead, kid. Way before you escape.

The Brains:

I'm already dead. What are they going to do to kill me again?

The Beauty:

YES!

The Braun:

YES

Light smiles weakly at his phone before turning it off and shoving it into his bag before hiding it inside a box full of leftover rubbish. Once he's confident, his bag won't be found until Naomi comes to collect it later, he stands out and sneaks out of the abandoned shop and back into the deserted street. There's no sign of the man following him, but Light knows he won't escape. They'll find him eventually, and as much as Light dreads him, he knows he'll never escape L. Even if he hadn't brought any unwanted attention onto himself during this lifetime, he'd come face to face with L, eventually. Although this confrontation was happening sooner than he liked.

Checking the street again, Light took off running, sprinting through one alleyway to another until a man blocked the exit, his gun raised. Light closed his eyes, took a deep breath in before opening his eyes again.

'Here we go again.'
