Light unwrapped his arms from around his legs. Naomi was in front of him, her eyes filled with worry as she tried to comfort him. Sayu's dead; in the old timeline, she... Light's heart was breaking into a million tiny pieces at the sight of his little sister. She didn't deserve that, the treatment from their father, none of it.

"Light, sweetie, what happened?" Naomi said. Light looked at her, his hands shaking as he unwrapped his arms from his legs. "Did you have another vision?"

Light nodded his head, "Sayu... died."

"Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry," Naomi said, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him against her. Light buried his head into her shoulder, her hand stroking his back. Sayu died, his little sister died, and Light wasn't there to protect her, to shield her from their father's abuse. If only he hadn't been convicted of being Kira, if only Light had kept his head down and not drawn any attention to himself, but how, he didn't know what made L think Light was Kira. No matter how long he racks his brain searching even tiny details, from Kira's appearance to his execution.

Light pushed Naomi away, crawling over to his bag on Naomi's table. Opening the strap, Light shoved his hand inside, grabbing his phone before pulling it out. He knew it was dangerous that L would know his phone number and be tracking it the second he turned it on, but at that moment, Light didn't care if L found him or if he was dragged back to that cell. None of that mattered; all he cared about was hearing her voice, listening to the sound of his sister still alive in this timeline, and that was the only thing which mattered most to Light in the end.

Light opened his phone and pulled up his contacts, scrolling through them before finding Sayu's. He pressed ring, holding his phone to his ear, and listened to the ringing tone. It rang and rang, almost cutting off when she finally picked up.

"L-light, is that you?" Sayu said, her voice washing over him in waves as the tension in his body left him. "Please answer me."

Light opened his mouth but stopped; what could he say. Hi Sayu, sorry for the random call, but I just saw you die in the future, and I needed to hear your voice; bye? No, he couldn't do that to her; he should hang up, pretend he rang the wrong number and turn his phone off. L could come through the door with an army of SWAT any second, and his sister shouldn't be involved.

"Dad rang us. Said you'd gone missing, and if we heard anything, we needed to call him immediately. I've noticed how distant you've become like you were distant before, with how much pressure Mom and Dad put on you, but this was different. It's like you couldn't look at us without this guilty expression gracing your face. What happened, Light?" Sayu said. Light froze, and their father had contacted his mother and sister; what's L planning?

"What did Dad say?" Light said. Naomi stared at him, confused, but he waved her off; he'd explain everything once he was off the phone. Naomi nodded, sitting beside him to comfort him.

"That's not important right now! Light, are you safe? Are you mixed up in something dangerous?" Sayu said, panic filling her voice. Light's heart broke; he never wanted anything like this to happen to Sayu; she shouldn't be scared for him.

"Please, Sayu. Tell me what he said," Light asked again. Sayu sighed.

"Not much. He rang late last night and said that you were missing and that if you rang or came home, we should contact him immediately. Then he hung up. What's going on, Light?" Sayu said. Their father must've done that against L's wishes, as L would know that Light would put his family at risk like that.

"I'm safe. I can't explain everything it's... it's complicated, but I promise that I'll come home once I've dealt with this. I will help you with as much homework as you want, and we'll do whatever activities you want to do," Light promised, "Goodbye for now, Sayu."
