It was Nia and Brainy's wedding day. They wanted a small, private ceremony for close friends only. During the months of preparations, the location of the ceremony and the party was being an issue, as when they found a good place and date for the ceremony, it did not match the place and date available for the location of the party. Problem that Lena solved by offering the Luthor family hunting lodge, not far from National City. A country house with gardens always very well maintained, on top of a plateau from where they could see the whole city and its lights, with the sea in the background.
As a wedding gift, Lena announced to the couple that the entire party would be paid for by her, with decorations and all catering, string band, DJ and drinks. She felt happy and with a light heart, she wanted to share her overflowing joy with everyone.
Gradually, after getting back together with Kara, Lena allowed herself to get closer and closer to her, getting to know her tastes, her quirks. She was allowing Kara to get to know her in detail as well. She preferred to go slow. If they were really going to get into this relationship, she didn't want to rush, never to hurt her ray of sunshine again. They were getting along well, they were happy.
The guests were already seated in their seats. Kara had saved a seat next to her, waiting for Lena. She looked distractedly at the lights of that late afternoon. Lena stopped on her way towards Kara and looked at her, bathed in that sunlight, with shades of yellow and orange. How could she be even more beautiful? She looked like a renaissance painting, with the breeze gently waving her golden hair, her eyes even bluer, highlighted by her royal blue dress. Her rosy mouth, perfectly designed. How could anyone in their right mind not fall in love with that woman?
Kara met Lena's eyes and smiled as she came out of her trance and came to sit next to her. Kara was enchanted by the landscape, the colors, everything was so beautiful that late afternoon.
"You have a wonderful view from here." Kara said looking from Lena to the landscape.
"For sure... It's a stunning view, just wonderful." Lena spoke without even looking at any landscape, didn't take her eyes off Kara. Nothing could be more beautiful than that blonde with blue eyes, who looked more like a fallen angel from Heaven.
Lena was mesmerized, only returning to the real world when everyone stood up, attracting her attention. The bride was coming in. At the altar, an anxious groom next to J'onn, who had been chosen by the couple to celebrate the union.
"Love doesn't see differences. For love it doesn't matter your color, your race, where you came from, your gender, your possessions. Love doesn't unite from the outside, it unites from the inside. Souls only recognize each other, hearts already know what they want before the eyes see, before the mind tries to rationalize. Love is not rational, love must only be felt, must be lived. It is a spark of life that manifests itself in the two halves, uniting them and making them complete."
J'onn's words touched Kara's heart deeply. It was like the translation of everything she felt in that moment. She looked at Lena. The teary green eyes indicated that J'onn's words had also touched Lena. Kara ran her finger along the back of Lena's hand and held it with all the affection in the world. Lena felt that soft touch, looked at Kara's hand that was holding hers, looked at Kara and smiled, intertwining her fingers with hers, gently, as if handling a flower.
Lena was really touched, J'onn's words spoke to her soul and she couldn't contain the tears that insisted on moistening her eyes. Kara was just that to her, the soul that hers recognized, the desire in her heart before she knew it, the love that made her feel complete.
She leaned over and pressed a kiss to Kara's shoulder, letting her head rest there, breathing in her parfum. She realized in that instant that Kara wasn't just a ray of sunshine, she was simply a whole sun. Her private sun. The powerful presence that illuminated her life, the light that gave meaning to her entire existence.
