"Oh Julian," His sister sang, dragging out the word as her voice got closer. "Look what I've found."

Lexi slipped as she raced around the corner down the smooth floor, not used to the slippery surface instead of the soft carpet. She jumped to her feet almost immediately, shoving the neon green flyer in his face abruptly.

Julian managed to snatch it up before it could flutter to the ground, squinting to see the faded black words against the bright background. Whoever had made the flyer obviously wasn't very knowledgeable in marketing things.

'BE BAD-ASS AND LEARN KARATE TODAY!' Read the cover in big letters, and under it: "Join Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do karate now!"

Looking back up to his sister with a confused look, she shoved yet another flyer into his hands, which was a pale blue. "Sign your dojo up for the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament Today!"

"We should do it! We could totally kick-ass!" Lexi grinned, short, curly brown hair bobbing up and down in a ponytail as she jumped excitedly. For being twins, they acted considerably differently.

Stopping her jumping to gaze at him the most begging look in her eyes, he finally huffed - a smile working his way onto his face.

"Fine, fine. Where did you find these flyers anyway?"

"Side of the road, why? No matter, let's go tell Mom." She raced away at top speed, leaving her brother to jog after her.

Opening the door, the siblings arrived in their mother's workroom. She looked up from her laptop with a raised eyebrow at the flyers in their hands.

"What have I told you guys about knocking?"

"Sorry. There's a karate dojo not too far from here; can we do it?!" Julian's sister exclaimed, handing their mom the neon flyer carefully.

"Where did you find this?"

"At the library, they're really promoting this everywhere."

Ignoring the skeptical look her brother gave her at the blatant lie, she gave a sweet smile.

"Promise we'll be careful. I swear."

"Fine, but anything happens, and I'll kick whoever's ass I need to; just let me know. It'll be good for you guys to get back out there and make some friends." She smiled, turning to her computer again as Lexi pumped her hand into the air with triumph and exited.

Julian followed after her, excitement building up in his chest as he bounced slightly on his toes. Even if he didn't show it, he was excited. This would be fun.

"And your sure they have lessons going on right now? Like, positive?" Julian asked for the third time as they skeptically stood on the dirt road, old cars lining each side.

A small building was at the end of the long driveway, with wooden doors and Bonzai trees on either side, which slightly reassured Julian that somebody wouldn't attempt to kidnap them.

"It didn't have any times on the flyer! Just constant talk of kicking ass and a location." Lexi reviewed the paper material one more time before shrugging. "Might as well check it out while we're here."

They walked forward as Julian noted the exceptional cleanliness of the cars, and as they neared the building, the smell of a fresh coat of paint.

"They say strike first; we'll pre-strike!" A man yelled, confirming that there were people there while simultaneously startling them both as the girl gave the boy a smug I-told-you-so look.
