Chapter 12

That was first night I dreamed of Jack Dawson-Cullen

Dream Sequence

I was in the forest walking. Something rushed by me. I turned but nothing was there. I turned back around and there stood Jack. He was standing in the shadows. I walked closer to him. I reached a hand out and my fingertips brushed against his cheek. He leaned into it–

I bolt awake gasping. In a split second, I thought I saw Jack standing in my room. I turned on my lamp and looked but nobody was there. I flopped back down onto my bed and sighed. I rubbed my hands over my eyes.

Bella and I were standing in the parking lot. We were in the same spot as the accident. I was leaning against the truck with my head leaning back and my eyes were closed. 

“It’s too early” 

“We’re going on a field trip” 

“Ugh, still too early for this.” 

“Make sure I get your permission slips” called Mr. Molina. 

I lifted my head and opened my eyes. I looked around the parking lot. My eyes met Jack’s. My mind went back to the dream I had last night. I looked away and blushed slightly. 

“Look! You’re moving. You’re alive!” 

“Yeah…false alarm” 

“Actually, I’m glad you’re not dead ‘cause- well, that would suck, plus I wanted to ask you- even though it’s, like, a month way-” 

I drowned out his voice. I looked back at Jack. He motioned me over to him. 

“So, what do you think?” 

“Excuse me?” 

I walked around Mike and went over to Jack. 

“How are you?” 

“I’m good. I think Mike is trying to ask Bella to the prom and knowing her she’s going to turn him down by saying she’s going to Jacksonville to visit mom” 

He grinned. 

He shocked me by wrapping his arms around my shoulders in a hug. After I got over my shock, I wrapped my arms around his torso and rested my head on his chest. 

When we pulled away from the hug, he gave me a small grin. 

“Will you sit with me?” 

“Sure” 

“Oh Austen, these are my siblings Alice, Jasper, and Edward.” 

“Hello,” said Alice. 

“Hi, please call me Aussie” 

They grinned. I looked back over at Bella and Mike. Jack wrapped his arms around my shoulders from behind and pulled me into his chest. We got some stares but I ignored them. 

“Time to board the buses,” said Mr. Molina. 

We walked to the buses. 

“Other bus, other bus” said Mr. Molina to us. We went to the second bus. 

We went to the very back and I sat next to the window and he sat next to me.

When we reached the greenhouse, I decided to catch up with Bella. 

I found her walking and walked up next to her. 

“Hey Bellie” 

“Don’t call me that.” 

I chuckled some. 

“So, I saw that hug between you and Jack” 

“We’re…friends” 

“Sure, sure” 

I glared at her as she gave me a grin. 

“You like him, don’t you?” 

“He’s…cute”

“Only cute” 

I scowled. 

“As if you don’t think Edward is cute” 

Her grin fell and she scowled at me. It was my turn to grin. 

Edward walked up behind us. 

“What’s in Jacksonville?” 

“How’d you know about that?” 

“Ugh, this conversation is already boring me. See ya Bellie” 

I skipped forward. I was humming while looking at the plants. I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders. I turned and saw it was Jack. I relaxed. 

We walked around the Greenhouse. 

“Aussie” 

“Hmm” 

“Would you go to prom with me?” 

I looked at him. 

“You’re asking me to prom?” 

He nodded. “Yes, I am.” 

I thought for a moment. 

“Okay” 

He smiled.

When we were leaving, we were holding hands. He was wearing gloves. I was giddy. 

We went to the bus where Edward, Bella, Alice, and Jasper were at. 

“Hi Bella. Are you riding with us?” 

“No.” 

“Oh. Well, I’ll see you at school to go home” 

“Okay” 

I gave her a grin before getting on the bus.
