Jack pulled up to the restaurant. When he parked, I got out. I met with Bella. As we approached, Jessica and Angela were exiting.
“Where were you? We left you both messages.” asked Angela.
“We waited, but we were starving so-”
They were cut off by Edward and Jack walking up behind us. Jack wrapped a protective arm around my waist.
Angela and Jessica froze.
“We’re sorry we kept Bella and Aussie from dinner. We all ran into each other and got talking.” said Edward.
“I-we understand. We were just leaving, so…”
I was hungry but they were my ride.
I looked at Jack. “Okay, well, thank you”
We start to follow them.
“Maybe we should make sure they get something to eat”
We looked at Jack.
Bella and I looked surprised.
“If you’d like. Jack could drive Aussie and I could drive Bella back ourselves” said Edward.
“That’s so…thoughtful” said Angela.
“Really thoughtful”
I knew Jessica was jealous.
“We could eat”
I made my way over to Jack.

Jack and I were at a separate table from Edward and Bella. A waiter placed a plate in front of me.
“One fettuccine Alfredo”
I slowly began to eat as he walked away.
“You’re not eating?”
“No. I’m on a special diet”
“So how about some answers then.”
“Yes, no. To get to the other side-”
“Enough games, please. How did you and Edward know where Bella and I were?”
“We didn’t”
“Okay”
I was frustrated. I liked a guy who didn’t give straight answers. I began to stand up.
“Don’t go”
Against my better judgment, I sat back down. I pushed the plate away.
“Were you following us?”
“We feel very protective of you both”
“So that’s a yes?”
“Yes, we followed you. We tried to keep our distance…until you both needed help”
He looked at my glass and saw the ice was melting. He lightly touched it and the ice solidified again.
I was amazed. I picked up my glass and looked at it.
“You what?...control ice?”
“Yes”
“Wow, that’s…impressive”
He smiles but it fades.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’ve never had the strength to stay away from you”
“Then don’t”
I had no idea what I was getting myself into but all I knew was I wanted to be in Jack’s life.
