CHAPTER SEVENTY-ONE
Please don't go.

ARIA'S HEART DROPPED AS the sharp blade glistened in the sun, the wind blowing her hair around her face as she stood before JJ, protecting him.

He noticed the weapon quickly, immediately yanking the girl to stand behind him as he'd easily take a slash for her, "Don't you dare hurt her."

A sinister smile came across the man's lips, sending chills down their spines, "How cute. You really think you can protect her? I can have you out of her life with a snap of my fingers. I promise you that'll be the last time you see her."

"You've tried that already. How's it working out for you?" JJ retreated, tilting his head in a teasing matter.

This only made the Kook angrier, he suddenly charged at the boy, waving the knife around, colliding into the railing as both of them ducked to the ground.

Aria attempted to grab the knife but was unsuccessful as she kicked down the ground once more, making her wince in pain.

"Get away from her you piece of shit!" JJ yelled, shoving him backwards.

Victor grunted as he swung the knife again and again, missing every single time. His patience was thinning by the second.

Aria turned her back on him stupidly, looking down at the waters in search for the small rescue boat, her heart beat in her ears.

"Ari!" She heard the boy call for her frantically, she spun around, dropping her head down just as the knife cut the air above her.

JJ grabbed Victors arm in an attempt to stop him, he was only shoved back once again into the metal wall.

She watched as her father lifted his arm again to swing, this time she was ready as she bent down, her lips parting as she watched the blunt end of the knife hit the blonde in the temple.

The girl watched in horror as he toppled over the railing backwards, his body hitting the water with a loud splash.

"No!" She cried out, raising her foot as she shoved it into her fathers stomach, he dropped the knife as he fell to the ground holding himself.

She glanced between him and the knife, clearly debating on the choice of taking his life or not, deep down she wanted to do it, but she knew she couldn't.

"You're fucking dead to me." Aria kicked him once more, so hard that blood began to spew out of his mouth, causing a crimson colored puddle by his cracked lips.

Aria gripped the cold bars as she threw herself overboard, her arms flapping in the air as she fell into the water, quickly swimming up the surface,

She turned the unconscious boy over, holding his cold cheeks as she sobbed, brining her face close to hers as she struggled to keep them both above water.

The waves were soft, but enough to overpower the small girl, she choked out as the saltiness burned her throat, frantically yelling out for help.

"JJ. Please, J. Don't leave me. Please don't leave me. I can't loose you. You're all I've got." She choked on her own tears as she cuddled into his wet cheek, letting her eyes shut.

And it was true. Aria would rather die then live without the boy.

It felt like hours, the torturing minutes, barely knowing if his pulse was beating or not, his heart would pound in his chest and then stop, every second she clinged to the boy like it was their last.

"Hey! Right there!" A voice yelled, the sound of a boat engine approaching had her shooting her head up, recognizing the group of Pogues.

"JJ!" They all gasped, brining the small boat to a stop as they helped the slumped boy into the inside of the vessel, Sarah holding the shaking girls hands as she helped in her.

She sat down next to JJ, gripping his cold cheek as blood dripped down his temple, her lips parted as she shook him slightly, "Wake up, JJ! Please! Wake up!"

He blinked his eyes open, narrowing them as his vision was blurry, he felt the warmth of her palm resting on his soaking tank top, he smiled weakly.

"Hi." She chuckled, biting her bottom lip as she stared at him.

"Sup." He beamed, the group go friends laughing in relief.

She glanced back up at the large ship, her face falling slightly as she seen the tall and lanky silhouette of a familiar person, and then she saw the gun pointed right at her friends.

John B struggled to start the engine up again, the group becoming aware of the gun pointed at them as they all began to panic.

The engine started with a loud rawr, the Kooks eyes glued to the troubled boy, she watched as he placed his pointer finger on the trigger, at this moment she was waiting for death.

But surprisingly, he dropped the weapon, disappointment and anger on his face as he watched the Pogues escape once again.

Unlucky for the group, the crew mates had been able to pull the heavy cross back onto the ships deck, meaning that Rafe had gotten the valuable.

Pope looked at the friends, "This shit ain't over."

Aria leaned back on the raft, holding a wet towel to the wound on JJ's temple, she intertwined their fingers, planting a gentle kiss on his salty cheeks.

The sun slowly began to set, painting over the sky beautifully. This is what peace felt like. Just being surrounded by her favorite people with absolutely no where to go.

Maybe this was where she was supposed to be all along. And she thanked her mother for causing that riot in her because without it, she'd be stuck in a relationship with a boy she didn't love. She thanked her for being the reason she'd went to the dock that night in the first place,

This was all she needed.
