nari couldn't help but allow few tears to fall. she knew her friends would come for her, or at least try, and there was no telling on if they'd be successful.
the girl sat against the brick wall, holding her body close to herself because of a cool breeze that drifted over her. she stayed that way for what felt like hours, until the door finally opened.
a man stood on the other side, not one of the ones who'd she spoken to earlier. "come with me."
nari took in a hesitant breath before standing. there was no reason to resist, and at least she was getting out of the isolated room. her jacked up sneakers hit the tiled floor as she followed the man down a dark, dim hallway. the were so many rooms, like the one she was just in. goosebumps were brought along her body at the thought of people being stuck in them like she just was.
"in here," the man said, stopping at a doubled door. she glanced at him once before pushing open the doors that lead into a big room, with a big desk and chair.
as the door shut behind her, an uneasy feeling grew in her stomach. it's like her gut had been warning her this whole time and yet there wasn't anything she could do.
"take a seat." was all that was said from the person sitting at the big chair behind the desk.
a woman.
nari moved her feet to the ground and made her way to the other chair in the room, sitting down. the woman looked at her, maybe too intently, making nari want to squirm in her chair at the stare. she wanted to hide her face.
"i definitely don't know you. which is odd because, well i know everyone. literally." she sighed, leaning her chin onto her closed hand. "what's your name?"
don't tell her.
"silent treatment, hm? do you honestly think that's the safe way out?" her tone sounded as if she was mocking nari. as if she wanted to laugh at the way the younger girl stayed quiet in front of her.
"alright, well, i know you know those two boys my men showed you earlier. funny story, they're both actually incredibly wanted around here. i see you've been, protecting them? may i ask why?"
"because they helped my friends and i, and from what i heard, you people aren't great."
the woman leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms. "so.. if i were to tell you things about them, you'd believe me, right? seeing as, you believed them so quickly."
"i believed them because they gave us hospitality. it only takes one fucking look down the streets to see that you don't care about those people—"
"—those people, are the reason this is happening." the raise of her voice and the sound of her fist hitting the desk made nari jump back in surprise.
silence engulfed the room as the two of them seemed to have gotten too passionate in their conversation.
"you have no idea how much damage two teenaged boys can do."
nari chewed the inside of her cheek, narrowing her eyes. of course she didn't. she hardly knew anything about those two, but they seemed harmless. especially shotaro, who nari took for the type to never hurt a fly.
"tell me where they are, and i can get you and your friends home safe and sound." the softness and eagerness in her voice made nari almost spill everything, but she couldn't decide on if it was a good idea or not.
an uncomfortable silence took over the boys, with just the sound of their feet hitting the pavement and occasional swoosh of the wind. stress and anxiety was building up in each of them as they walked.
the four of them were putting all of their trust into shotaro and yangyang, who were the only ones who knew where to go and what to do. the four were vulnerable and aching to find their friend.
jaemin seemed the most nervous, as he'd made multiple promises that he would ensure nothing would happen to any of them. he felt stupid for making promises he couldn't keep, and he tried to stay optimistic about getting to her, but the chances were looking slimmer. he felt like every second they spent walking, was another second of her being in danger.
"what if we don't find her?" donghyuck asked, as if he'd been reading jaemins mind.
"try not to think like that, maybe?" renjun replied with a sarcastic, annoyed tone.
"i can't help it. i'm actually so scared for her right now." the boy admitted. he wasn't really the type to show genuine worry for others, but he grew to be fond of nari and would be hurt if anything happened to her.
yangyang and shotaro glanced at each other, as if they knew something the others didn't.
they did.
they were worried for her too, of course. the guilt was starting to eat them alive, feeling like her safety could be promised if she wasn't associated with the two. the fact that they were risking their own safety could have made up for it.
"are we ever gonna tell them?" shotaro whispered once the two were far enough ahead that they couldn't be heard by the others.
yangyang kept his eyes ahead of him. "we will. i'm just trying to think of the right time."
"now... right now would be the right time. we're gonna have to turn ourselves in for her to be brought back."
he knew his friend was right, not wanting to think about it. "you shouldn't have come."
"are you serious, yangyang? of course i was gonna come. i'm not worried about what happens to me, at all... they're gonna hate us when they hear the truth, man." shotaro shook his head and ran a hand through his hair
before the other boy said anything, he finally spotted the building that they'd come all this way for. he stopped in his tracks, looking back to see if the others noticed. they hadn't until they realized the two ahead of them had stopped.
"is this it?" renjun asked, wiping sweat from his forehead as he looked at what was ahead.
"unfortunately."
