Akiro sighed tiredly and mentally counted the minutes till midnight. For how much longer would his father keep him up?

"That's it for today Akiro," his father said as if he had heard his prayers.

Akiro nodded obediently and quickly began to tidy up his books. He was glad today's study session had been cut short, he didn't know how much longer he could take it.

Rui observed his son pack up his things though his mind was elsewhere. Lately, he had realized he couldn't shake that memory away. That memory that had marked his life.

It was the one he had shared with his wife when they were just teenagers. It was that night during their camping trip that they had finally started to more or less understand one another. Even though he was now quite unhappy in his marriage, and his wife's stubbornness irritated him to no end, it looked like a small part deep inside of him still cherished that memory. After all, why would his subconscious bring it up?

"Akiro," Rui called after his son before he could leave his office.

The black-haired boy was quick to turn around, a bit confused as to why his father would call for him. Had he suddenly decided he still needed to study more?

"You've been improving a lot lately," his father shuffled through a stack of papers. "Why don't we go on a trip to celebrate it?"

Akiro had to blink a few times to convince himself he hadn't heard wrong. It was only the second time his father was proposing going on a trip. Last time it happened was two years ago when he skipped a grade and at that time, he never imagined it would be more than a one time thing.

"O-Okay," Akiro vigorously shook his head, still in shock at the news.

"This time," Rui paused, "why don't we go camping?"

Father and son arrived at the camping site in the evening. It was Akiro's first time going camping and he was extremely excited, especially since he got to spend time with his father.

After building the tent and preparing everything, Akiro convinced his father to go fishing and, surprisingly enough, he complied with his request right away. So, both father and son made their way over to the lake.

Rui explained to his son how it was done and they had quite a lot of fun. It was as if being surrounded by nature and getting to leave the busy city was enough for Rui to relax and Akiro sensed that too.

Akiro managed to catch quite a few fish and once he was satisfied, they went back to their camping site and built a campfire.

Rui's eyes were now glued to the flames, his mind elsewhere.

"Wait. You were serious about going camping?" Hanami scrunched her nose in disgust.

"Why are you suddenly so appalled by it?" He arched an eyebrow.

"I just thought you'd like to go somewhere else." She frowned. "We graduated two weeks ago. This should be quite a big deal to you."

"And? I don't see the problem," he shrugged nonchalantly.

"Being surrounded by dirt isn't something that appeals to me," she pursed her lips.

"Don't be such a princess," Rui rolled his eyes. "You said it yourself, we graduated last week. Believe me, this trip will do you some good."

"I don't see how," she scoffed.

"Because you will get to commemorate your first school field trip."
