In the life of a nerd.

Chapter 1.

Ughh!! No one likes me!! I am such a loser! I have no friends! Everyone teases me for my glasses and I have no life!!
Hey. I am Jessica Freshers. Sixteen year old bag of problems. I am what people call 'nerd'. Everyone in my school hates me. I live with my Mom. My dad took off three months back. I go to the Winter High School in California.
It is the best school in all of California; my Mom is my only friend in this world. Is being a nerd a disease? So why does nobody come near you?
School today was horrible - as usual. Students threw paper balls at me. I was screaming inside but outside, I remained calm. I took those balls and threw them in the dustbin.
Well, nevermind. My life doesn't matter. I sat at the back of the class in all subjects. We had a test in Chemistry. My favorite subject. As I got the paper I knew - Grade A again.
I finished the paper in a few minutes. I was reading a book to pass the time when, Mike Hoovers my all time crush turned back and said, "Hey, Nerdie, what is the answer for 11th?" I reply, "Atomic number of Potassium." He smiles and says, "Thanks Nerdie."
I hate it when people call me a nerd. I hide many things. Things I dont tell anyone.
After school in the canteen, I took my tray and went to the last table where no one would notice me. I thought about my family. My dad. My elder brother. My dad and my brother had gone out for a drive in my brother's new car. They never came back. Later that night we got a call from the police. They told us the news.
After that incident, we moved here. To California and believe me things have been worse.
As I stepped out of the building to go back home, I realized it was pouring and I didn't have my umbrella. Uggh! I am such a jerk! How can I forget that today it was going to rain?!? I wait for the rain to stop and it feels like hours. I get a text from my mum.
"Hey, honey where are you? Is everything all right?"
"Yeah mom, everything fine. I forgot to bring an umbrella and it might take a little longer for me to come back." I text back.
After sometime, the rain doesn't stop, Mike comes out of the school, he had his basketball practice after school. He saw me and said, "hey nerdie what are you doing here? Run back home kiddo."
I dont say anything. I never talked to Mike before except for giving him answers for tests. "Umm, sorry nerdie, I could have given you a ride back home but I need to go now. Bye. See ya." And he climbs into his Mercedes and drives back. Mike is really rich. His parents work for the Sheikh's in Middle East. After an hour, my mom finally brought her van to get me.
I was really hungry and tired.
That night after dinner, while I was getting ready to go to bed, I heard my phone ringing. "Hello, Melissa?" It was the familiar voice. I at once recognized it --it was Mike. "Ummm....this is not Melissa. I think you got the wrong number." I say.
"Oh. Who is this by the way? I think I recognize your voice." He said.
He recognizes my voice? But I never spoke to him. "This is Jessica. Jessica Freshsers." I say. Hoping nothing goes wrong. "Oh. Hey nerdie. What's up? Probably doing homework?" He says this and giggles. He is so cute and his british accent makes it even more cuter.
"Umm...gotta go, Mike. Sorry." Saying this I hung up.
I lie down on my bed and think about him. I have had a crush on him since I was 13 years.
The next day, I woke up and I felt completely empty. I was empty of thoughts, empty of happiness, empty of food. I literally dragged myself to the breakfast table. I didnt want to go to school. I was worried if Mike would talk to me.
I didn't want to. I couldn't face him. I never looked him in the eye. I can't talk to people. I have been bullied all my life and I am scared of everything in school.
I went straight to my locker when, Mike came up to me........
