When They Have A Nightmare

Gale

- Gale's hand hits you waking you up

- You see that Gale is looking extremely upset, sweat is running down his face, though his eyes are closed

- You wake him up

- He frantically looks around, most likely searching for a danger he would not find

- "Gale?"

- He just seems to notice you now and immediately pulls you into his arms holding you tightly

- You stroke his back, reassuring him that it has been a dream, that the war is over and you two are safe now

- At first he does not want to talk about it, but then he admits that his dream has been about the night of your capture, when district 12 has been destroyed and he has not known about your state

- You kiss him gently and promise him that you will not go anywhere

Finnick

- Since the war you have not been able to sleep properly and therefore dreaded the nights

- When you decide that you should be so exhausted right now, that you would rather pass out than fall asleep, you go to bed

- But when you enter the bedroom you share with Finnick, you can hear him crying

- You are by his side right away and wake him up

- Before he even realizes that it has been a dream you are holding him in your arms, whispering: "Shh. It's alright. I'm here."

- He leans into you and lets you stroke his head and face until he has calmed down

Haymitch

- Haymitch and you have been together for more than two decades now

- Nightmares are nothing new to you two

- You know that you should keep a safe distance when you wake him up because his first instinct is usually to attack

- The first time you woke him up, you got a nosebleed

- When he realizes that it has been a dream you let him hold you, he literally clings onto you

- Usually his nightmares are about the death of his family, your games or your time at the Capitol, so he feels the need to have you close

- You have the habit to stroke circles onto his chest while he holds you which soothes both of you

Peeta

- Peeta is either whimpering or screaming depending on his nightmare

- Sometimes when you wake him up he does not recognize you, probably aftermaths of the hijacking

- You have to be careful then

- You try explaining everything to him and after thinking for a time he usually remembers

- But from time to time it happens that he looses himself so badly that he attacks you

- He is much stronger than you, so if he attacks you you have no chance

- When he sees your scared and hurt face, he often turns back into himself without anything happening

- But one time it has been really bad

- He even broke some of your bones and just stopped, when you pleaded him to, crying from the physical and emotional pain; maybe it triggered his memories of the times when you have been tortured in front of him

- He will never forgive himself for hurting you like that and is scared to sleep

- He even wanted to leave you, so you would be safe, but you persuaded him to stay with you

- His nightmares are scary for both of you

Johanna

- Johanna is mostly thrashing around wildly and screaming during her nightmares

- You anxiously try to wake her up without getting hit, which almost never works

- You reassure her that you are with her and that you are both safe, you are the only one who can say that to soothe her

- You hold her and kiss her head to comfort her

- When she has calmed down, she prefers to hold you

Katniss

- The impact of her nightmares differs

- One night she is screaming, thrashing around and trying to attack you when you wake her up

- The next night she is whimpering, crying and shaking uncontrollably and you have to hold her for hours

- She explains her dreams with one word to you, so you know how to soothe her best

Cressida

- Silent nightmares

- If she has nightmares you usually do not notice until you wake up and see that she is not inside the bed anymore or is sitting there awake

- You inch closer to her and wait for her to speak

- Most of the time she tells you about her dreams and you two talk about it, which helps her best

- But sometimes she just enjoys your closeness until you both fall back asleep
