The swirling clouds had finally settled and rain poured down on the streets....

Hu Tao rested her head on the dusty granite stairs and dejectedly stared at what seemed to be a grave.
Who would have thought that the 77th director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor could act such way? Sadly this was the truth, stars don't shine all the time...

Hu Tao took off her Harmony Hexagram hat, and one after another tears started rolling down her face, burning her cheeks along
the way. Sudden memories came flooding in, her parents casting her off: "You're such a failure Hu Tao." . Her friends: "I despise Hu Tao... ." and even though they had all left her, the nightmares persisted. Never was she truly happy, never could she show a real smile and this was Hu Tao.

She huddled her legs against her chest, attempting to hide her tears but no use, the sound of her sniffling was enough to know she was crying...
Soon after, people consecutively passed her. Laughing, staring or pointing... . She could hear their whispers, dragging her down even more. "How pathetic..." , "Told you she was miserable!" , "She should be ashamed of herself!" . Hu Tao listened attentively, her eyes closing in the process, like a child, dispelling her fears. When suddenly she felt a cold hand that sent a shiver up her spine. She quickly saw the expression on their faces change from derision to ... fear? Behind her stood a man of average height, whose dominant aura made her flinch, but it was none other that the Vigilant Yashaka himself! Hu Tao's eyes widened at the sight of an adepti. She quickly stood up and wiped her tears away....

"Aiya, Xiao! How've y'a been?" She said, trying to sound normal while playfully punching his arm.
The adepti did not respond, instead he took her arm and lead her to a quieter place, avoiding the people's stare...

"Why are we here?" Hu Tao asked in an inquisitive tone.

Xiao, once again, did not respond. This time he took his fingers and wiped the tears that Hu Tao had "supposedly" washed away.
She felt surprised, was the adepti the only one who truly cared?

Xiao finally managed to pronounce a few words: "Why... why are you crying?"

She the realized what had happened, the Vigilant Yashaka had never felt or seen emotion...

The girl replied unsteadily,
"I don't know..."

This time the adepti was surprised: Why so much suffering if you didn't know the cause of it all?
Xiao placed his hand of Hu Tao's shoulder:

"Why don't we go to the Wangshu inn?"

Hu Tao quickly replied,
"It's fine don't worry..."

"Then will you at least tell me why you're upset?"

She stared at the ground and finally looked up:
"Well,..." she started shakily
"I don't have a home, friend or a family, even when I did they all left me... I don't know what I did wrong..."

The young director's voice trailed off, and underneath her breath she whispered...

Xiao's eyes widened at the last line, he then replied,
"I don't think so..."

Hu Tao turned her head
"You-you heard that?!"

She stared in disbelief
"Tsk, I'm an adepti, of course I can hear that." Xiao then continued,
"It's not your fault, never has been."

He looked at Hu Tao, who stayed silent.
Suddenly, she lept off the stairs and hugged him. They stayed like that for a second when Xiao realized what was happening. Quickly, he pushed her away, a little stronger than he would have liked. The young girl, embarrassed and shocked, deeply apologized but sadly, Xiao was already gone...

She put her hands over her face trying to force a smile, all she had to do was get by today...
