"It's okay..." he whispered
"I wasn't going to hurt you..." he then added
The girl buried her head in Xiao's clothes.
"Really?" She asked
"The mighty adepti can't be beaten!" She spoke, laughing through her sniffles.
"I'll never hurt you..." He looked at Hu Tao, trying to comfort her.
"In fact," he continued
"Just speak my name and I'll be there."
Hu Tao, like the mischievous person she was, was overcome with ideas. All of course, a complete waste of time for Xiao.
She the cried out:
"Yay! Now I have a strong demon conqueror alongside me!"
She jumped onto Xiao, who fell to the ground. She stared into his bright gold eyes, that could have hidden a thousand treasures, treasures of his heart, that he wouldn't share to anyone.
The Adepti didn't mind this sudden affection, in fact he quite enjoyed it. His face turned no redder than it could get as he got up.
"Uhm" he commented
"Unfortunately, it's getting late, why don't you head back..."
"Aiya! Want to get rid of me already?" Hu Tao teased
"Can't you come with me!" She whined
She turned her head, gazing at the trees below starlight, how each colour, each hue was so- unique.
Xiao couldn't help but stare, not at the trees, but at her. What was this feeling? He cared for her, more than himself, he wanted to be with her...
"Yes, very well" he interrupted
"I shall accompany you home." He added
They both walked home enjoying the calm breeze of the night, Hu Tao making a few jokes, some good enough to make even the adepti laugh.
She liked it, a true friend, a light in her ever lasting darkness...
She held his hand, her hazel, scarlet eyes staring into gold....
