In ancient times, the Lantern Rite was a time of joy and festivities which consisted of placing a small paper inside a lantern. It was said that those lucky enough, who make their lantern soar in the midnight sky would have their wish come true....
Hu Tao gripped onto her paper slip nervously, considering her actions before it was too late.
I wish... I wish for Xiao to accept my feelings towards him... A small smile crept up her face on reading the final words she had written:
And I hope, that he comes to this Lantern Rite.
Perfect. She lifted her gaze to the sea of fog above her, tapping her foot impatiently. Is he coming? He better not leave me...
She could feel the tension in the air, almost palpable as people stared at her from afar.
"Miss me already?"
The very same voice she loved and leaned on was the one that shocked her the most.
"Oh, hehe, you came..." she muttered out nervously, barely audible
"Why would I not?"
Wha- Had Xiao always been this confident and outgoing? He held out his hand inviting her to a quieter space.... Deja vu? She felt passer by's eyes glued on her:
"Ew, is that the misfit? Wait! With the adepti?"
"Trust me, I would look so much better with him..."
"How could he be with her?"
"..."
"Let's ignore them for now shall me?"
He said trying his best to lift her spirits...
