Heavy feet carried Jin to the school gate as he walked out resigned to his fate. Upon looking up, he stopped in his tracks. Glowing eyes and deep growls from a group of angry werewolves met him just outside the gate.
Earlier, he had been in his room, lost in his thoughts when one of his classmates banged on his door. The student had encouraged him to come out and watch the commotion going on outside the gate. He spun on his heel, leaving before Jin could ask any more questions about how the commotion was of interest.
The decision he had been pondering over for two hours ceased as the answer presented itself to him. He would leave whilst the students were distracted by whatever was happening out there. He scanned the room, where memories had been made, one last time; even if it was for a short time. When he checked the time, he had fifteen minutes left to meet Jhope and possibly, the other members. Instead, he shook the reminder off his mind.
Deep down, Jin wished he could stay, but he knew that his desires were inconsequential in the life he had been given. As Suga had told him, his father must have been murdered and he could be next. It didn't matter what the killer's intentions were, there was no reason to wait for them to attempt to kill him before he left.
If BTS was willing to stand by him as Suga had said; then, leaving may just be the only way to protect them from whatever was after him. With a final sigh, he picked up his backpack from the bed and left the room.
The school was oddly quiet with barely any student or adult in sight. Jin attributed that to the lack of classes and perhaps, the dead students. Even the security guards that usually manned the gate were absent.
As he approached the gate, however, he began to hear the silent movements outside but nothing indicated the chaos he had been informed of. Jin was left speechless when he saw that he had been fooled.
The student had told him to come watch the commotion taking place here, but on the contrary, it was a trap. Jin was the target and he had just walked right into it.
The crowd swirling around him were a mix of familiar faces and strangers: freshmen and sophomores with whom he shared classes. He didn't expect them to be this brave. Neither in the planning nor carrying out an execution. But it made sense when the day had been lecture-free. He hoped that someone who wasn't plotting his murder would alert Namjoon, the Student Body President about his current predicament.
On both sides stood two werewolves each. Two more stood in front of him with his classmate, who had complained earlier in class, standing in his human form between them. It was the weight of the boy's stare that brought goosebumps onto Jin's skin. His throat suddenly began drying out, constricting with each heartbeat, making it impossible for him to breathe or swallow.
Judging by the way they scrunched up their faces, Jin knew he had nowhere to go yet he tried. He took a step to his right and the werewolves followed him. They watched his every move with unblinking eyes, waiting for the slightest hint of movement. Slowly, he raised his hand as if trying to tame a street dog.
"Please, you don't want to do this."
"Yes, we want to. We really want to."
The boy standing in the middle of the werewolves replied with his iris, a fiery golden contrast to the deep, deathly darkness of his pupils. The werewolves growled fiercely, baring long fangs and eyes narrowing at him.
Behind them, the students began to chant in harmony.
"Justice! Justice!! Justice!!!"
They wanted justice for the dead students and he was their scapegoat. Jin returned his attention to the boy and spoke, "What will you gain if you kill me? Will you be any different from the killer? How can you accuse me of an act and attempt to do the same thing too?" He had tried to stay calm but the edge in his voice was cutting through his restraint.
