"Your future sucks."
The little girl said as she scrunched up her nose in disgust. Iseul stared at the girl who was probably his age mate watched him with sad eyes. He was only ten but he understood that was not a usual statement shared between people who bumped into each other on their way to class.
She continued to stare at him which made him feel smaller than his figure. He made a show of puffing up his shoulders as he had seen several adults do when attempting to look superior, "What do you mean?"
Instead, she giggled. She crossed her arms over her lean body and walked forward to stand in front of him. "I said your future sucks. You will love two women but you won't get to be with either of them for long. Too bad." She turned and walked away before he had a chance to ask her how she knew that or how wrong she was.
It was impossible. He was destined to be an Alpha of his pack which meant he had a destined Luna. Never in history has it been recorded for one to have two mates. None of the books he had read or the stories his father had told him involved loving two women. How is that even possible? Wasn't it ideal to be with a single partner? His mind couldn't come up with a logical explanation. She was mistaken.
When he got back home that day, he asked his mother if there was such a thing as having two mates or loving two people. She had told him, "There's no such thing my boy. Where did you get that silly idea? Besides, you already have a Luna with whom you would lead this pack. Do not create absurd thoughts like that. Now, go wash up."
The conversation ended and thoughts of two mates dissipated like ashes with the wind to never return until...

...When the melodious laughter pulled him towards their table. Absentmindedly, he placed his coffee and books on the table opposite them.
Moments before, he had been preparing to meet his CHEM 201 Professor. It was the only course that was driving his perfect CGPA down the drain and he wanted, no, needed to get help as soon as possible.
His father expected a perfect record and his only son, Iseul Han, would not be the one to disappoint. He knew the mantra started and ended with, "...you are the future Alpha and your people would not want a wuss to lead them".
However, his heightened senses had captured the laughter of two voices and replayed it continuously until he was sitting right across from them with a fascinated expression. He didn't realize it at first but after a couple of minutes, it dawned on him that he wasn't just gaping at one but both of them.
One of them, whose name was Hannah had a foreign accent that enticed him. She had olive glowing skin with the cutest long nose he had ever seen. Her cherry red hair tended to bounce every time she laughed. Even her eyes disappeared when she smiled and she hadn't stopped smiling since he sat down.
Whereas, the other girl, Yeowol, had the innocent next-door-neighbour look. Her expressions were much guarded but he could see it slip from time to time. Every time, she spoke to Hannah, her eyes would shine brighter. Like the other, her skin was olive and glowing. He couldn't stop staring at the round eyes on her face that kept glancing around as if she could sense him until...
She did.
Their eyes met and she glared at him. Hannah noticed her friend's distraction and turned towards him too. Caught red-handed, he panicked and quickly grabbed his books, forgetting the coffee alongside his purpose of going out that day.
As he scurried off, he felt his heart beating faster than it had ever done, not even during the numerous times he awaited his father's scolding or punishments. His wolf was equally unhelpful as it bounced back and forth in his head in excitement. Almost as if...No. No! That can't be right.
