"Hyung, they are coming."
"How many?" Jin focused on their scent as they moved through the wind. Each, a drop of water in his mind. Connecting and disconnecting once it touches the other drops. It would have made it really hard to distinguish them but Jin had spent a lot of time from home, running, avoiding his father. He'd learnt how to pick his scent from the others even though as a pack, they had the same scent.
He began to count. "Three...five...seven! We need to go." He said, clearly frightened by the numbers.
They had both returned to Levanter Forest, Jin's father's house to pick up his credentials in order to officially have a place at Big Hits Academy. Headmaster Bang had been welcoming to Jin from the get go.
He had been given an entrance exam which he failed averagely, only excelling in history class and even then, it was a thing of chance.
Headmaster Bang made it clear that Jin had to do better in classes to be a member of the group. His grades couldn't be questioned especially since he was to be on scholarship. The last four months he had focused solely on school and levelling up academically with the members helping him in classes that proved difficult.
A loud growl broke him out of his thoughts and he turned towards Suga. "They must have been alerted. No way, they got here that fast."
"Or they knew you would return. Your backpack is empty. Your credentials are not there nor in this house." Suga returned from the bedroom holding the empty backpack. He packed all the envelopes on the table and threw them into the bag alongside other items that didn't make sense to Jin before they ran out through the back door.
Jin lead him along the path he had taken a million times, furious that he couldn't get what he needed. They had barely spent five minutes when he sensed the security team behind them.
"Find him. He's not far. His scent is still poignant." The familiar voice of none other than commander of Domino soldiers, Choi James. He had been in the Alpha's service for over a decade and was revered by many. He was also Alpha Han's private guard. He had a slanted cut that stretched from his left eye over his nose down to his jaw. A scar he had gotten as a child warrior before he shifted to his werewolf form. Hence, it never healed, not that he was worried about it. He posed with it as a sign of strength.
The men moved quickly and soon, one of them caught his scent. "Over there! Fire!"
Arrows pierced through the wind and landed at the tree beside him, above his head and in other directions. He ducked, lost balance and fell on the stony path. Suga pulled him back up and shoved him forward.
The trees suddenly felt taller, his jeans grew tighter and his wolf begged to be freed. He had never been chased by actual weapons in his life which made him kept turning back to check if they were close. Of course they were few meters behind, he could hear and smell them. His entire body ached from the fall and nerves.
He could see their path getting darker as they ran through the throng of leaves surrounding the forest. Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead, his heart thumped louder rejecting this version of racing. His wolf put in more effort to push them further and avoid the inevitable. He didn't get why they chased him like an enemy even though, technically, he was a rogue.
It still didn't make any sense. None of it did.
Another minute passed without any arrow attempt but he had been relieved too early. As he forced his lungs to work, something struck the back of his left leg and he whinced. He crouched down and lifted his jean up. His leg was bruised and bleeding. At this rate, they would find him using his blood.
